Bill,
Good to see you back on the board, are you still undecided? Bill 993 TT is what definitely the best bang for your buck....
I've communicated with this seller when I was looking for my 993. The seller was responsive to all my questions... HOWEVER, I have to agree with Tony 356993 about the feedback, it shows a trend.
Car fax is okay and a good PPI could be a good find for the price...

Tony,
I'm happy to hear you are enjoying your car! I enjoyed reading the details of your trip after you bought it...sounds like a lot of fun.
I'm still lurking about and contemplating what to buy. I drove a 997 and I have to admit that it's quite an impressive car. I considered a used 996 but it's down to a 993 or a 997. For the money of the 997 though a 993 TT is in the range.
I wonder if anyone bought the '98 C2S I had PPI'ed? I still think about that one
Anyway, these days I'm playing around on the slower end of the speed scale having bought three Land Rovers in the last 3 weeks. Here's a picture of one of them.... it's a 1972 Series III 88 that I bought from the original family. Performance is quite impressive with a top speed of 60 to 70 mph!
Take care!

Bill,
Are you restoring these Rovers? Very cool
I too love the 997 but something about the 993 (almost 10 years old) every time I see my car, drive my car, wash my car or in the garage with my car I just can't believe it’s almost a 10 year old car.
It was way ahead of its time.

Bwahahaha!! I started a thread about this car in probably late October (search for "Exchange" and C4S). This car was at the Porsche Exchange in Chicago, and it had a serious problem with steering shimmy at 50+ mph, and I doubted it was something simple like alignment or a bent wheel. The interior was fine, except the e-brake handle was loose. Also, the spoiler light kept coming on since the PO added the spoiler and didn't fix the switch. The Exchange was willing to sell it for $47k (negotiable). In my opinion, it probably has not seen much track use. I have to wonder why the Exchange dumped it; maybe the shimmy problem.

Tony - Two of the LR's are in good shape and are okay as is. No serious restoration needed. One is a 1963 that has had a lot of work done but needs to be reassembled (notice the model year and my logon name....hence my interest in that particular one).
Eric - thanks for the heads up on that one. That would be rough to hit the "Buy it Now" and encounter that problem down the road!
BTW: something looks fishy on that auction. Wasn't the "Buy it Now" like $43,9XX ? It now shows reserve met for $44,000 and someone didn't use the "Buy it Now". I NEVER trust private auctions...too much shill bidding!

I watched that thing last night when it had the buy it now price of 43995. I started to buy it now but decided to hold off since I was going to the Chicago area this weekend and I was going to put my hand on it. Now the price has gone to 44k. I sure guessed wrong on this one.

Ronnie,
That's my concern on this one. Why would someone bid $44,000 and not use the buy it now? I may be wrong but something doesn't feel right.

That is strange. The drivers seat and brake/ clutch pedal seem like they have more wear than 31k miles. Also sticker under the hood with the air bubble or crease just don't look right to me.
Bill I live in winston and I never seen your car running around. Sure does look awfully nice.

Ronnie,
I sold the Turquoise Blue C4S (in my avatar) last year to a forum member. The car is in Korea now. I haven't decided what to replace the C4S with but I keep leaning towards another C4S. Hopefully, you'll see me cruising around town in another 911 soon!

Nice Rover Bill.
I sold my 71 Series 3 5 door LWB last year. Fully restored - vented safari top - man it was so much fun. Couldn't get it in my new garage - too tall - and didn't want to see her dissolve in our salt air here in Wrightsville Beach.
They are so simple mechanically - its a breeze to work on them. You can dismantle the entire truck with a set of crescent wrenches and a screwdriver.
Plus the Rover community is very passionate - just like Porsche. I got stopped all over the place with people asking questions about the truck. Mine would do 65mph tops - downhill.
Good to see another classic Rover in good hands!
