Thumbs up Car is in for repair....

Hi guys,

Just wanted to know if you all would like to see (with pictures) the whole process that the body shop will do.
They are starting on Monday and I can ask if they take pictures if you are interested.

This is why it's in the body shop:

- Complete repaint of the car ( vandalism, see other post) = insurance
- Rust repair left and right corner front windshield)
- Installing + painting Turbo S scoops
- Installing + painting C2s split grill
- Installing new spoiler wall

What colour would I choose to paint the grill?

Regards and tia

Here are some pictures from the car before the repair ( and before the vandalism). Should I take the same colour of the grill for the new one or change the colour?

Keeping the same colour seems good. But I would prefer it a little bit darker.

And of course YES we are interested in pictures!!!

Ciao!

We love to see photos!

Perhaps, with regard to the grill, you could ask for some photoshop assistance from one of the RL members?

Good luck w/ the repairs... hope it comes out better than new.

Thanks kkim! The owner of the body shop really loves Porsche's ( he has a 993 TT with a full techart kit " a beast!" ) and he assured me that the car will be 10x better than it is now.

He will follow up (and take the pictures) so his employees will of course be pressured a bit

How is the weather in Hawaii?

Regards

9:20 in the morning and it's 74 degrees w/ partly cloudy sky.
I hope it improves. How is it there?

If I were in your position, I'd like to see what the wing options would look like beforehand. Photoshop is a great tool to help. Unfortunately, I don't know how to use it.

What color is your car?

Here it is raining, lots of wind and 4°celcius. So I think it's better in Hawaii

The colour of my car? That's a good question because nobody has an answer on that one. I always thought that it was Viola metal but it isn't. There is also no colour code on the window sticker what is very strange.
The body shop said that it is a 2 layer paint (whatever that means?), very rare and expensive. In the dark it is black and in the sunlight there is a purple shine.

Maybe somebody knows how it's possible that I have no colour code?

Of course I will take before and after pictures + a full report with pictures of the body shop.

I choosed this body shop because a few Porsche dealers are working with him, I know the guy and he's real perfectionist.
He's more expensive than the other body shops but the insurance is paying so I take advantage from it. If I want I can choose a different colour but I really love it. Why are you asking, any idea's?

Delanobe,

I don't know what seal grey is, and I'm not a Photoshop specialist but here is a vague idea of what it could look with a darker grey.
But it's not easy to choose from a picture. Ask advise from your body shop. They live in a world of colours they should be able to propose you some nicely balanced choices. By the way are they on the road between Louvain la Neuve and Gembloux?

Hi Toga,

No, it's a body shop in Leuven.
When the car is finished maybe we and some other Belgian rennlisters can meet eachother?
Your place would be a great meeting point

Regards and good luck with the engine work

Delanobe,

Personally, I really like the grill the way you have it now . . . maybe a couple of shades darker, but not much. The contrast looks great. I was going to do something similar until I put the RS aerokit on.

Regards,

Default Rust...

You wroye, " Rust repair left and right corner front windshield"...Porsche AG should pay for this with a 10 year anti-corrosion warranty. I had some minimal rear windscreen rust...Porsche Cars N. America piad for it.
