911s shine in the 0-100-0. I remember back in 1994 when Car&Driver did the test and the 965 3.6 Turbo easily beat all other comers. With all the weight out back it launches hard and stays stable and even under deceleration.
Anybody remember Carroll Shelby's time back in 66' or so in a 427SC? My delusional and occasionally inaccurate memory bank remembers something in the 12-13 sec. range (is that possible?).

Yes, that's about what I remember as well. (I have all the R&T, C&D, M/T magazines, etc from the late '80's to mid '90's).
It seems a little exaggerated, but with 540hp and 2500lbs (approximate Cobra specs), I'm sure it's possible.
I'm sure a new Carrera GT could do better than that old Cobra.
Big problem with the Cobra has always been how to launch it clean with a minimum of wheel spin and get it stopped without wheel lockup. They are brutally fast when hooked up though... which is rare! ;-)
I have a 1966 issue of Car Craft Magazine where Ken Miles, as the test driver, took a production street version of the 427 Cobra for a road test. That is where the 0-100-0 in 13.2 seconds came from. They also built race versions of the car that I am sure are faster so maybe that is where the 10 second time comes from.
