Post Where'd the supercharged 993 go?

A couple of weeks ago, someone was posting that their 993 was coming out of the shop with an aftermarket supercharger installed.

I think it was ICONRACING993, but I remember waiting for a drive report, and then I saw nothing.

Did anyone ever hear the final word on that install? Did I just miss the thread? What happened?

He's probably having difficulty prying his fingers off the steering wheel!!

Kim, it will make your car faster, when is your SC going on? Or do you have 5 stored away for later already?

That was me Had a boo boo. The fuel pump died and the car couldn't start. My fuel pump blew my DME relay and fuse 26 (fuel pump fuse). The fuel pump was drawing over 40 amps. Burned out the wires and a relay under the dash. I should be getting it back tomorrow evening. I test drove it today without my wing on. I begged my mechanic to let me drive it around the block. It's FAST, a friend came with me and he swears that it feels faster than his Turbo.

I will have more results as soon as i drive it more. I want to see how engine temps fair with the AUX oil cooler an dhow it works with the tiptronic =O)

Hi Guys,

I've had my TPC SC kit on for over a year, so has Cecil, we have both done over 15k miles on it so far. Mines got a tip his is manual. The car's torque is completely predictable and addictive. No major problems to date even though I've turned the boost up a bit and added a smallish intercooler.

I'm part of the UK G-Tech 0-60 test team on the 964 pages and should be able to give you a better objective number once I get the G-Tech.

The car is certainly fun but best for the street and not track. Others have posted some of their track problems. But I'm still smiling.

Cheers, Mark.

Mark,

I'd love to hear more about the "Smallish Intercooler" that you did. Do you have pics? What is involved?

First, reduce the size of the jpeg to 600 x 800. This is more than big enough. THen click the UPLOAD PHOTO at the top of the rennlist page.

Use browse to locate the jpeg on your PC & click upload.

Not quite, after you've done that, "copy" the file location (all that http// etc.), then hit "image" when you're replying & "paste" that link to the box that opens, hit ok and then you're done! Oh, then you have to hit "add reply" of course.

Sandman, you need to upload a photo to the Rennlist server first (using the 'upload photo' button at the top of every page).

Then you link the server URL of the image into your mail. The 'upload photo' function gives you the correct path to copy and paste.

Hope this helps

Graham

Mark -

I assume thats a water/coolant to air intercooler?? Did you have to run hoses to the front of the car to aid in the heat exchange process? Is this a custom kit you fabricated or is it available from TPC??? Also, if available, whats the delta T across the IC? BTW, it looks pretty cool.

Maybe I don't understand how these things work. I always thought an intercooler goes between the compressor and the engine. That one looks like it is before the compressor. Is cooling the intake air as effective as cooling the compressed air?

Mark, what are the reasons that the SC is best for street and not track?
