The analysis was brillant, concise and accurate. What it failed to point out is that depreciation is the largest expense by far. That's why I only buy used Porsches. My last foray was an '89 Cab., drove it for 2 years, maybe $2k worth of repairs and maintenance - and sold it for exactly what I paid for it.
When you do it this way, total cost of ownership is not more than buying a brand new Accord, or Camry.
I've been looking at used 993s (you all understand the "bug"). But so far, when I examine all the maintenance invoices that each owner has shown to me - I feel "thrilled" to be driving my stick shift Mustang Convertible.
