Post Replacing 993 Cab Top

The convertible top on my 993 had a couple rips, was looking worn and the window had a large crack strait down the middle. After looking at the procedure in Volume V of the Workshop Manual, I thought "This doesn't look so bad". Now before you laugh hysterically, I perform all regular maintinance on my 993 and have no problem swapping transmissions and doing other major work on my track car. I ought to be able to handle a simple canvas swap.

Yeah, right.

After 3 hours, I have the original canvas off. The adhesive proved to be a bear, and there was a lot more of it than the manual let on. What I'm REALLY concerned about is getting everything aligned right the first time.

Anyone have any install tips, or better yet, anyone in New England area (I'm in Southern NH) have any experience at this?

I do not have any experience with the top install but I do have a Cab and some mechanical expertise. Never the less, if you need an extra hand during the install, I am available. You know, two heads and all...

I recently saw an article about replacing the top. Try a search for this topic and it might payoff. My top is in great shape (except the rear window scratches) but I'd be interested in knowing how it goes. At some point it'll need to be replaced ...

I'd be interested in how your DIY goes as well. Mine doesn't need replacing yet but it's only a matter of time... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

It's probably too late but here's a link to help align the top ...
