OT: We have a contract.............I want my car back.
Well we have a contract on a house. It actually looks bigger than it is. It's a 3 bedroom 3 bath, 3 car EMPTY garage with an office space which we would of converted a 4th bedroom into. About 3600 SF I am not looking forward to this at all.
I imagine we will be trying to fill this thing up with more useless items when I could be spending the money on my FORMER P-Car. I will get my raise the first of June and if I can find out what it is before then I am buying a P-Car. I want a 95 Cab with mid miles, upgraded exhaust and wheels if anyone knows of one in the mid to low $30's. Thanks

$510,000. I am hoping that something goes wrong with the deal. I wanted to stay around $350-$375K or so. I made really good money off of my first house and when we bought our house together we only financed $90K!!! Our house appraised over double that amount. So I will be financing around $375
Here in St.Louis you can buy a 3600 - 3800 SF House for $280k - $350K in St.Charles County but it is to far of a commute for me.

This is a picture of a $300,000 house in St.Charles the problem is if I wanted this house where I live it would be double. Go Figure It would take me about an hour to get to work where it takes me 15 min. and 30 min. if we get the other house.

I vacation in Palm Desert and Del Mar usually every couple of years. I think I would stay in CA., There is a lot of opportunity here to make money but I think you would miss the excitement and all of the different things you can do in California. If I could find a job making the same salary that is comparable by cost of living I would be in California for sure.

Location, location, location. Property values vary significantly w/in the St. Louis area. E.g., in the priciest areas, a new 4,000 sq.' home appropriately constructed and outfitted, sitting on less than a 1/4 acre lot would be $2,000,000+. OTOH, a turn of the century 8,000 sq.' "mansion" can be had for 1/10th that price. High rise condos w/in sight of my office start at $700,000 & go to over $3,000,000.
My wife is a Realtor & her East/West coast relocations no longer find bargain housing in St. Louis, at least not in the most desired locations.

Here in Vancouver a new 2,400 sq. ft. home on less than 1/10 of an acre in the most sought after area is already C$1,000,000 = approx. US$740,000... I'd love to have a 1/2 acre lot... there are very few of those here... you guys are lucky.

I want to move back to St Louis. Grew up there. Went to Wash U (actually wearing a Sheatshirt from there wight now). Moved from St Charles and left a brand new 3 BR / 2 ba 2000 Sq Ft house on a 1/2 acre for $85K. Fast forward 12 years and I just sold a 50 year old 1800 sq ft house on a 1/4 acre for $1.1M. And it was NOTHING special. Currently renting a house with a full acre in the Hills overlooking the Silicon Valley, 3500 Sq ft 70's house with bad construction. If this place went on the market it would go for $4M+.
I need to leave this place and get back to reality. My wife won't let me move to St. Louis because of the winters. I'll have to keep working on her....

My wife and I have started house hunting as well, so I understand your position. In the Chicago area, I have an oversized 3 car garage that is just awesome. We are moving back to the Virginia side of Washington DC where finding a house with a 3 car garage will cost a minimum of $750k. With that, I guess the Jeep will have to live outside as we will not be opting for the 3 bays, but instead 2 inside car spots as that is just too many Porsche dollars waisted on a house!
Good luck and you will be back in the family soon enough.
