Help!!! I can't take the squealing anymore
I love my C4 dearly, but does anyone else have non-stop squealing? And of course it always happens while slowing for lights. The roters and pads are fresh (10K).
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance...

I have had very good luck with 3M Brake Lube and Anti-Seize Compound (#08945) and Permatex Disc Brake Quiet (#80077).
Even with Pagid Orange, this combination manages the noise problem very well. With stock pads and the anti-noise stuff removed,
I get no noise at all.

What pads? Track/Competition pads? Nature of the beast; live with it or change pads.
Street OE pads (Textar) or Metalmaster street pads squealing? Surpising. My '95 is totally quiet even with the OE anti-squeal garbage removed ( I posted a pretty picture along with an article on 993 brake pad changing recently; do an archive search; there is also a writeup in the "Technical library" on this OE anti-squeal stuff). If you have problems with street pads, might try some of the anti-squeal sticky spray sold at any auto parts store. Remove the pads and spray the brake pad metal backing plate, then reinstall the pads.

When I wash the car, I spray the rotor and pads thoroughly, then roll the car back a quarter wheel turn and spray again to get the part covered by the caliper. My OEM street pads do not squeal at all.

My 993 has the same problem at slow speeds coming up to a stop. I'll try the "flush" method and see how it goes.
If it does not work, do you simply spray the brake pads with the anti-squeal product?

Yes, axle grease applied directly to the pads will work every time
[/cheeky]
You pull the wheels and the pads out of the calipers, and apply the anti-squeal goo directly to the backing plate surface.

I should add that the "flush" method has always worked alone. I have never had to apply anti-squeal product.

Make sure your shims are in...some shops don't do it...
Second, remember, OEM pads are often made from a different compound that Genuine, depending on the application. If you don't want to go to a performance pad, I would suggest spending the extra $$$ and get genuine pads...good luck
