Aluminum racing floor jack inquiry needed
I was curious how many people would be interested to buy an aluminum racing floor jack?
I can possibly arrange a group buy where each floor jack will cost around $350+freight.
The cheapest price I have found on the Internet for this item is so far $499.
The company that supplies them can only sell to a business not an individual and a minimum requirement of $1000 per order. Which means I probably need to get them to shipped all the jacks to me and I will need to ship them individually out to whoever wants them.
P.S. I originally saw these floor jacks at Costco, and when I decided to go back and buy one they were sold out, and later I found out that this was a test item for Costco and they decided not to carry them anymore, because it didn't sell well. And I had to find the original supplier to Costco of this item.
Below are the specs. and a picture of the floor jack.
Quick Lifitng Jack. Lifts load to max height in only 6 pumps.
Fully CNC Profile machined from aircraft-grade billet aluminum; keeps weight to a minimum.
Heavy-Duty, hard-coat anodized housing of frame and chasis.
Advanced hydraulics.
Not welded, easy to assemble and dis-assemble.
Light Weight; 35lbs.
Easy to Carry.
Top Quality and Reliability
Knurled upper handle for easy grip.
Seal replacement kit included.
Lifting Capacity: 3000 lbs.
Working Range: 3 1/2" - 17 1/2"
Stroke (mm/inch): 358 (14")
Low Height (mm/inch): 87 (3 1/2")
High Height (mm/inch): 445 (17 1/2")
Overall Length (mm/inch): 600 (23 3/5")
Overall Width (mm/inch): 290 (11 2/5")
Overall Height (mm/inch): 155 (6 1/10")
Web site where they are selling for $499

Looks like a good deal. Too bad I bought one at Griot's last year. Here is a picture of their jack, looks very similar to the one Robin posted.

Robin,
Is the handle in two pieces? I'm wondering if it would be possible to put this in the car to take to the track?
Only difference (from Greg's) appears to be that his has lightening holes.
Greg,
Does this jack fit easily under your race car, or do you have to lift up on the fender to get it to fit?
I'm in.

I am bummed that I didn't get the good deal that you guys will but saving my back for this last season was well worth the extra bucks.
You guys can justify this in that it may save you from having back problems down the road.

As an FYI - I have a Craftsman Jack with a height of 4 1/2". My car is pretty low and it will slip under the side, though often needs a little lift at the wheel well. 3 1/2" shoud fit almost anything.

Mark,
Your Craftsman jack wouldn't fit under my car, I had to use your QuickLift (or whatever it's called) to get the initial 3/4" or so of lift to get the Craftsman to fit. But if yours is 4.5", and this one is 3.5", it should work no problemo.

Perfect. I wanted to be sure that I could get it into the trunk. I'm in for sure then.
What's the ETA on getting these?

Are we going to set up a racing series for these? I was just wondering, because if it's a spec series, I don't think we should let Greg race with that lightweight model.
Unless we have an unlimited class...
