two more suspension questions

I've nearly decided on my suspension choice. I have just a couple of questions.
1) How much have you guys spent to have the suspension put in on average (including alignment). I'm still considering taking a crack at a DIY, but I'm not sure.
2) Is there any market for used ROW M030 springs. Would these even be worth selling to someone, and what kind of price would I expect to get. They've got probably close to 30K miles on them. I'm considering just going with the Bilstein HD's since I don't think I'll be doing enough track time to matter. But I like the idea of adjustability. So, if I could sell the springs (even for a few bucks, I'd feel better about PSS9).. Blah.. why is it so hard?

Bobby,
Do the PSS-9 package, if you have the basic tools the install is not that hard. Martin and I put mine in and rough set the ride height in the garage. Then had the car corner balanced and aligned for $250.00 at AJ-USA. The PSS-9 package is well engineered and balanced when done with the RS sway bars. The ride is very comfortable, I set the shocks a 3 for the street (1 is stiffest) and find the ride really nice with 17 inch rims.
Not sure what the M030 springs are worth...

1 - My install of Gert's RoW M030 w/HD Bilsteins kit, alignment & corner balance cost about $1,100.
2 - Sets of RoW M030 springs have popped up
on eBay w/some regularity. Most recent was a few weeks ago and that "used less than 200 miles" set sold, w/active bidding for $153.50. I don't recall a set that sold for much more, but then I haven't paid much attention.
BTW, FWIW, still thrilled w/my suspension for street & a bit of track use.

PSS-9's installed with 4 wheel alignment and corner balancing for $2800. I couldn't be happier with the result.
If you are handy with the wrenches you could save approximately $600 by installing them yourself and paying for alignment and corner balancing..

Do the DIY. If I can do it, and I did, anyone can. This board is a great reference of you run into any problems. You will not only save money but you will learn a great deal about your car. Just my $.02.

I'm considering taking a crack at the DIY.
I suppose I could always have it flatbedded to the shop if I blow it. Or offer a lot of beer and steak to whoever wants to come over and save my a**
I read through Robin's DIY. It looks a little tough on paper, but I'm nearly on board for the try. I like the sound of saving 600 bucks, and think of all of those messages moving me up the rennlist guru ladder.

Bobby,
If your ever down in Orange County, or you want to make a trip, I would be happy to through her up on my stands and get to it. I can corner balance the car as well (only after an alignment though).

Bobby, you have a Turbo S and you're worried about the price of a new suspension, and whether or not you can get any money for your old shocks?

Kim:
If I had seen a drill on the DIY, I would've been on the phone with Custom Alignment making an appointment. Anyway, I'd be up for an october install. I'm driving to Texas at the end of october, so I'll have to have it all done by then. I'm just doing the PSS-9's for now. I might try to get some of Jim Morton's custom shock mounts, but not sure how feasible that is just yet. Send me an email, and we'll talk.
Chris:
Thanks for the offer. A little far for me though. Might have to rely on Kim's "expertise".
Matt:
Pissing money away on things I don't need or fully understand why I need them irks the hell out of me. That's why I can be cheap sometimes. I go little on the little things, big on the big things. Keeps me happier over the long term. Besides, did you see what I spent on that wedding (see the website)

I paid $650 for the initial PSS-9/RS sways installation, corner balance and alignment. I've paid $180 twice to have the ride height adjusted and the alignment changed after doing some testing.
I'm extremely pleased with it now and don't anticipate needing any additional tweeks to the height or the alignment.

bobby, let me know when you do your diy. I'd love to come watch and assist if I can.
Also, nice write up on the wedding. That's quite a price tag, but it looked nice. Weddings always cost more than you expect. Good thing that you got a wedding coordinator. They are worth their weight in gold!

I just had PSS-9s, RS sways and front monoballs all installed for $514. It took the tech 8 hrs at $60/hr. (Good rates in Rochester NY).
Be sure you either use monoballs in the rear or get special spacers. If you do not know about this issue just say so and I can fill you in.

I've heard something about that but I'm not sure what you guys are talking about.
I could use some info on that, thanks.

Well it looks like the cat is out of the bag...
For those interested, I did a new rear spring hat for the rear PSS-9 shock. I, for one, did not want to opt for the monoball option. Been there, done that before... However, I also did not like the coilover using the OEM shock mount for spring loads.
For anyone interested, I am providing details of my mod to Steve W. of Rennsport Systems. Steve has been invalubale to me getting my 993 working the way I think the car should despite my not having bought the PSS-9's through him. Steve is the definition of a gentlemen, IMHP ! I cannot say whether or not Steve will take the design to a product or not. Frankly, I have been districted lately with some family matters and have not gotten Steve the final engineering drawing of the hat and spacers. I can say that the result is dead on great !
For those interested, the pieces I made can be seen on my personal web site at:
http://www.morton-engr.com
click on "PSS-9 mod"
Just so everyone knows, I am strictly a finatic hobbiest with tool and die making in my past ! I am not out to make money off any listers by disclosing the pieces I made and trying to sell them. This has been my own solution to what I thought of the overall rear PSS-9 problem once I drove the original installation.
Feel free to e-amil me with any questions. I will answer them as best I can.
Regards
Jim Morton
