I hear you brother!
I sold my last 993 for a '95 NSX and never looked back. I then moved from the UK to come and live in the USA and bought my dream car a '97 C4S. You know what, I can't stop looking at NSXs and know that the C4S will for sale very soon.
Now, this a funny thing, I'm a Porsche guy throught and through, (had 7, 3 X 911s - my favourite car of alltime) but I just loved that NSX.
Don't listen to anyone who tells you they have no soul, they have. Granted they're not living breathing animals like an air-cooled 911, but they are a good partner. Run it through to 8,000 rpm and see who has a soul.
Go for it!

PS. Get friendly with your local Yokohama salesman, you'll be seeing him very regularly for rear tyres!

Funny to see the 'no soul' comments You'll hear the early 911 guys saying the same thing about 993s sometime (not that it's true in either case). I for one like the NSX's, you have to give credit to a chassis that's remained almost exactly the same for 13 years, is 'underpowered' by todays big hp standards, and STILL has the capacity to give most new sports cars a good run for their money at the track. www.nsxprime.com is a good site to go research - I'm sure there's been a post over there '993 vs. NSX' where you'll get the comments from the 'other side of the fence'. One thing to consider with the NSX is that it's an aluminum body, meaning repairs will be more expensive, meaning an insurance company is more likely to total loss that car if it's in a significant accident. Incidendally though, I've heard insurance on NSX's isn't too bad.

puke. honda makes a nice car though had one as a rental in miami for a few weeks... whole time (inside) styling felt like i was in a prelude etc, reliable like a honda too though?... i'd do an f-car before nsx... ha ha! , mho of course.
porschethereisnosubstitute.
i'd get some serious seat time before jumping into it.

Random suggestion - why an NSX, when you can get a new or nearly new S2000 (built on the same line), similar characteristics (little low-end torque, reliable, fast when VTEC comes on, well built, fun) for 24 (low miles '03) -27 grand (very low miles '04)? And get a convertible, to boot, that is still under warranty. It handles well out of the box, and is a good daily driver. Oh, and did I say it is a convertible?

The thing with the S2000 is that it's a Honda, albeit a fine car. The S2000 is no substitute for a 911. There is no special sprinkling of magic, maybe it's the Senna touch. The NSX just feels special, maybe it's the limited number of them available - when was the last time you saw one on the road?
As for the horsepower, don't believe what you read. That 276bhp figure is a dream figure, how else could you have a car that's consitantly got quicker with no (relatively) output change. I know that Autocar (well respected Uk car mag) reckon their long term test car to have been closer to 350bhp. Blame the Japanese manufacturers 'gentlemans agreement'.
But I agree with 24FPS (on only this one thing!) , get some seat time in first. You won't be disapointed.

IMHO I wouldn't. I sold my 993 for a new BMW M3 and yearn for my PCar.
I've driven an NSX nor have never known anyone who owns them. I imagine they are great fun though.

I was not thinking instead of, but in addition to! After all, S2000s ar relatively inexpensive. And though badged a Honda, they are built (up to now) on teh same line as the NSX, and are not 240HP, but usually a little more.
I would not get an S2000 as an only car, but it is a good complement to a 993....

As i'm following this thread, I got a little curious on the NSX. I don't know too much about them, but always liked the timeless "exotic" looking exterior. Hard to beat a "sports car" with the reliability of it's sibling Accords (if that holds true).
Anyway, getting to my point...I started to chuckle a bit reading a comparison between a TT vs. NSX ("Porsche Twin Turbo", Michael A. Molitor - 2nd comparo) on one of the NSX forums. Seems like 90% of the comparo talked about the superiority of the Porsche, but he still preferred the NSX. I guess it really comes down to what you are looking to do with the cars, as he mentioned that the 993 TT is far superior on the track.
So, since you mentioned that you already have a track car, then perhaps the NSX will fill that weekend "exotic" car slot nicely.
Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong. Good luck with whatever you choose!

BTW - I also suggested this to someone else recently - I like the VW R32. Also pretty good out fo the box (not great, but good), but a whole ton of potential. HPA will mod it to do 0-60 in 3.2 and top out over 200mph. Admittedly, those mods are extremely pricey, but I am sure others can provide good bumps in power for less....

Let me throw another one in the hat for an addition, a WRX STi Scoob. I had the C4S and a STi for a few months, What a great car, and cheap too.
Only mention it as we seem to be morphing this thread into 'what car best compliments a 993'!!!!!

While I am a Porsche "guy" I love the NSX. I don't buy the "no soul" (a rap all Japanese cars seem to get). The cars are fast, handle great and look more like a Formula One car than almost anything out there. And with all due respect to the Honda 2000 which is a fun car, it is no NSX. If I can afford to and beg my wife long enough I would love to have an NSX in my garage next to my Porsche.
