I decided to see what Mobil 1 says about 0W40 availability. In their "Product Data Sheets", they have separate ones for the US and Global markets. For US all they show is 0W30, 5W30, 10W30, and 15W50. For Global, they have the 0W40 and say "Mobil 1 is the ultimate performance, synthetic engine oil designed to provide unsurpassed protection for the engines of all gasoline-powered passenger cars, light trucks and vans. Mobil 1 is particularly suitable for high performance engines, especially those fitted with turbo chargers, operating under the most severe conditions. ..... Mobil 1 0W-40 exceeds the engine oil requirements of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and is specifically recommended by Porsche."

Interesting to speculate why the US doesn't rate 0W40 in the retail market.

I went to Polaris' website, called the nearest two dealers (250 miles away), and neither one carried Mobil 1.

We are talking about the Polaris company that does watercraft, ATVs, etc?

Dont know what to say ? Heres an 800 number for one of my local dealers. Bristow's 800-256-7871, service tech gave me the info, parts the price. Another local has no 800 number but does have a sight,www.brothersmotorsports.com. Maybe one of these will give a case price and ship.

FWIW -- They are not quite up to 0W40 yet but the local Wal-Mart does sell Mobil 1 0W30 (the one with the silver cap)for $3.38

FWIW,

If you go to your local Wal-Mart and fill out a merchandise request card, they will ususally consider stocking just about anything. My CAP squadron did this with single-weight Aeroshell aviation motor oil, and they had it in 2 weeks. Grin.

cheers,

sean
