Default DEALER RIPOFF - Knopf Automotive in Allentown, PA

Achtung - Stay away from this dealer!!

I recently had service on my 944 to change the water pump and belts. By closely examining the bill, I was charged for parts that were never put on the vehicle. When Knopf was confronted about the extra parts, they insisted that they were installed, and that's what Porsche recommends. I personally verified that the parts are not installed by removing the timing covers.

Here's the complete story

It is the law to supply the old parts upon your request. Did you ask to see the old parts they replaced? I have a funny feeling that you posted this across all of Rennlist and aren't going to read any feedback...

Yes I did request all the old parts. The problem wasn't that they didn't replace the parts I asked, it was that they tried to bill me for an additional part that is physically unable to coexist with the other parts.

My intention was not to receive any pity or feedback. This is to warn others about this dealership and hope that they don't suffer the same indignity.

It will be shown to the dealership also to let them know they can't get away with these kinds of practices. If they would have admitted their mistake, I would have walked away without another thought.

How do dealers repeatedly get away with this crap. Not just Porsche dealers but alot of dealers do this very thing! It blows my mind.

Thanks for posting. I'm not sure if there are any other threads regarding Knopf on Rennlist, but the more stories that come out on dealer issues, the more informed choices people can make.

Why would you ever take a 944 to a stealer? Sorry for your troubles, but you should have seen them coming. I don't think most stealers know that a 944 is, much less how to work on one.

We don't have any dealers/stealers (that's a good one Rick...) in R CAN SAW so I guess we are lucky. Can't steal from us if they aren't here...

Man... sorry to hear about all your troubles. Go after the jerks, would ya???
