Rick, sorry to hear about this but as the others have said, you walked away and that's what really counts. I hope the car is back in your hands soon, better than ever!

Yesterday was a bad day for Porsches. Another Rennlister ended up in hospital after this crash:

Rick, Tough break. Glad you were not hurt. I have enjoyed following your mods to this point and it was painful to see the car damaged for what ever reason. I live a bit vicariously though Rennlist. I hope the accident is an opportunity for more improvements. The LWF sounds great but I, personally lust after the lower gear ratios of Steve W.

Dave, a Euro G50/21 was likely in my future, but this deductible is taking over that budget and then some.

With reguard to insurance, most insurance companies don't cover DE events, but I know a bunch of folks who have used State Farm for coverage and they have paid. They usually also say that is the only time they will cover, but they have covered.

I specifically moved to SF for this reason as most won't cover.

Just an FYI because it came up and some were asking.

My golden horseshoe is available for rent, Rick. I used it twice this weekend at VIR and am hoping it still has some good mojo left in it.

Sorry to hear of your crash but am glad that was the extent of it.

Rick: Really sorry to see this thread, but, like everyone else, I'm glad you're okay. I like your attitude: big mod opportunity now!

Just had lunch with a few of our local Porsche nuts and one of them, who witnessed the carnage in the paddock, said he thought I did a lot more damage than was visible. I mentioned that I found some chunk of broken, cast aluminum next to my car and it was very hot to the touch. It looked like cooling fins from a cyl. head and was split so I could see where the bolt (or head stud) would have gone. But we could not find anything missing underneath my car and it drove fine on the way home. No funny noises, no smoke, no leaks. I dunno. If the engine has to be torn down, then this could really snowball into a project. I assume they'll have to leave the engine in the car when they put it on a jig. But I want to discuss the hidden damage clause with Dave.

Graham,

And Jauder got his 993tt all dirty doing off-road stuff at Button Willow. This surely was a bad weekend for 911s.

Ridk,
Count your lucky stars you did not get hurt. The car can and will be fixed... Fixing a human being is more difficult. Hope you will be posting pictures of your repaired car soon...
