Rick, I'd offer a word of caution there. The RUF pieces are roughly 2 x factory prices, but do not approach factory quality. I have just been through around 30+ hours of pain fitting a CTR2 front to mine - that's on top of the paint guy's time, who spent 6 hours preparing before he painted ....

I thought I'd been careful, asked all the questions beforehand - is it factory quality, are full instructions with it, is any fabrication / modification required etc etc. I did not see the panel before it was painted, but several friends did and all reported being shocked at the 'quality' of the FIBREGLASS piece. And you should NOT have to take a saw to things to get them to fit (both car and panel !)

BTW, the CTR2 rear bumper has centre exhaust if you were thinking of that piece ....

Pics
1 = of fault in surface
2 = look at reflections
3 = broomstick reflected against bumper
4 = broomstick reflected against hood

cheers, Maurice

Rick,

So sorry to hear of your accident, but glad you came away unhurt.

Two PCA autocrosses ago, I had the misfortune of working a hairpin corner on our local road course where a guy backed his new (to him) Carrera into a tire wall with very similar results to yours. Breaks your heart, but at least you're using your car as Ferry himself intended.

Hope you're back on the track soon and your car is better than ever!

Paul

It will be much better when you're too old to drive to talk about your crash on the track than to talk about how you wish you had gone to the track. Good luck and hang in there.

I couldn't agree more. I've been going through a similar depression as my Superformance S1 (think Lotus Seven, only South African) broke its frame in turn two at Mosport. No, I didn't go off, but I've been hammering the car on R-compounds for more than 2500 on-track miles and the frame couldna take no more, Captain!

It was not an expensive fix but now I have a $35,000 limited-production (#45 of 56) car which is no fun on the street and probably no longer safe on the track

I consoled myself by thinking that nobody ever looks back and wishes they had spent more time "playing it safe"...

Concur, Chuck. I have no regrets and am not too bummed, other than about being Porscheless for a few months. I heard they found a puddle under my car yesterday, so engine work could be involved. I'm just getting excited over the mods I will do while the engine is out, since I now have a garage to bring it home to. If they total it, I'm buying a Carrera and an early car. The former will be a weekend toy and the latter will be a monster. There's a super sweet seal grey 993 C4S on eBay right now too. Oh, the possibilities.

Good luck on getting her repaired. Glad to hear your okay. Hopefully they won't total the car, as I am looking forward to watching the mods get done.

Rick,

Good to meet you last weekend. I knew a car went off but did not realize it was you. Sorry.

I went to Watkins Glen after SP and was just pulling down toward pit out when a 996 Cab launched straight off turn 1. The driver was ok as far as I know but the car took quite a hit.

Is it the time of year for this kind of thing?

Glad you are ok, and up beat about the situation. I look forward to hearing about the repair and mods.

Good luck.
