Question on extra cooling idea...
I have a DE tomorrow and was just wondering if removing my right headlight assembly would help with cooling. My fan and ballasy resistor are fine, but a little extra cooling would be fine with me. Would the extra air flow assist or impede the fan cooling? Thanks.

Hey Rick - I bet your not up this late, but instead resting for tomorrow's track time.
I'll see you there...Pray for the sun to burn of the expected thunder storms.

kim is right - that will do it!!!
also i've been playing with another idea on this one. my understanding is that the area under the factory splitters is a fairly high pressure area. that's why the fan on high speed really helps the hot air get out of those vents. one idea i had was why not create a couple of holes at the high side and low side of the wheel well. enough to create air flow but small enough not to let debris in. has anyone ever tried that?
cheers,
boris

Boris - I suggested that a couple months ago, and a few people chimed in and said that it would mess up the aerodynamics of the car. Not being one to take advice very well, I did it anyway. I drilled (3) 1-1/2" holes in the bottom of the fender liner (to minimize "aero" effect) and glued black screen to the inside to keep junk out. I also went inside around the cooler and sealed the spaces between the cooler and the sides/bottom of the fender/splitter. All that to say, it made no difference. I believe an auxiliary cooler is the only way to go. That is going to be my winter project. I've been watching you guys trying to come up with a better/quicker/cheaper oil cooler. Any updates?

Gosh Rick, that's terrible. I'm very sorry. It's not been a good weekend for 993 Rennlisters - I noticed today that mine is smoking out of the left side tailpipe.....
