Default How do i reset my SRS (airbag)light?

Airbag light came on last week for no reason. I would like to try to reset it and see if it comes back on or not. Anyone know how this can be reset?

Thanks,
Shant

Shant,

The only way to reset the light on a 964 is with a "hammer," as the error is stored in nonvolatile memory. I suspect it's the same for a 993.

I also had to have mine re-set. Only the dealer in my area had the computer needed to do the re-set. Evidently the computer is very costly. The re-set cost me $50 at the dealer. Good luck.

On my BMW, when I disconnect the battery for a night, the computer is reset and all problem codes are erased from the memory. I don't know with the 993...

just a tought.

Cheers

I tried the battery re-set too. It doesn't work on 993s. My dealer charged me $50.

$50??!!! ...Dealers....figures!

Shant, I'd find a good independent. Just ask if they have the hammer to reset your AB, and it's a two minute affair. Dealers!!!!

I called around to several independent shops and none of them had the computer to re-set the light. They all said the computer was too expensive.

This one of those nice little things (the normally $high-end$) Andial will do for you for free (at least they did for me ). Andial has all the stuff the dealer has, perhaps more? The shop in Newport Beach I used to take my car to (owner has since died, shop has changed names) also had the tool, so some independents do have the hammer. But, Chuck's right, I think most independents don't have the hammer (like the shop near my house that I take my car to for routine maintenance).

Just an FYi that I paid $50 two years ago. They might be up to $75 by now. Good luck!
