H&R Springs
My car is currently lowered with the H&R springs. I am running the stock shocks and feel it is time to change them as well. I don't track the car so do I really need the PSS9's?
Can I just replace the shocks? Is there a brand that would be recommended by Rennlisters?
Or would it just be more cost efficient to go with full coilovers.
TIA.

There's tons of info in the archives, but I'll reiterate a few high lights here.
a) Check out this page for background info: <a href="http://p-car.com/susfaq.html" target="_blank">http://p-car.com/susfaq.html</a>
b) Bilstein HD's are recommend as replacement for stock shocks. But there may be lowering issues for the fronts.
c) The cost for R/R of suspension is going to be about $1000, so it makes sense ( moneywise ) to get the setup you want the first time.
If you are mostly driving street and don't plan on ever tracking the car and don't plan on lowering the car much, I'd go with the HD's.
If you ever think you'll want to track it or tweak with the adjustability, then I'd go with the pss-9's with the RS bars ( rear bars at least )

As a non-tracker and daily driver myself, I just put in H&R's with Bilstein HD's and so far love 'em. I didn't have any lowering issues (that I am aware). I did the install myself and can attest that there are no fitment or installation issues. I think by being lower, you will get some extra negative camber by nature, but that can be minimized by a good alignment. I went from 27" front and rear to the fender well to 25.25" and 25.5". (That was before corner balance so I'll have to double check those figures.)

I'm thinking about the HD's but my car is actually quite low with the lowering springs. I like the look and don't want to change it.

A note on the lowering and possibly old shocks. The shocks that came out of my car were only serving a function of keeping the spring traveling up and down in a straight line at best. They took less than 10 lbs of pressure to fully compress the shock in about a second and couldn't even return under their own weight - shaft pointing up. My point is that I believe that the springs are doing the lowering - not the shocks. The Bilsteins however, do have some more flexibility in ride height adjustment (especially the rear) so I would speculate that you could mirror or even more finely tweak your ride height with the Bilsteins and your existing H&R springs.

I did the same as what Brian did, except with Eibach springs. My car is much lower than stock but not as low as it could be because my wife drives it occasionally and I don't like to do body work....
The improvement is great but it is not a track set up.

i'm happy with my Bilstein HD/ Eibach setup. no install issues; but i did purchase and use some extra lock rings for the rear spring and drop-link mounts.---adscab, check your PM box. max
