Post OT: Garage floor

I remember a while back someone was showing off thier black and white garage floor. Does anyone remember who's this was, and what the link was to the thread. I can't find it in any archive search.

I think it was on the old message board, but I don't know how to get to it. Any help? Thanks!

The old message board is here: <a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/cgi-bin/993/993.pl" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/cgi-bin/993/993.pl</a>

I don't remember about the black/white checker though.

Here are the two products that I am considering:

<a href="http://racedeck.com/commercial.htm" target="_blank">Racedeck</a>

<a href="http://www.kiwitile.com/" target="_blank">Kiwitile</a>

And a recent thread on that wacky CFG 996 board <a href="http://www184.pair.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/cfg986/996/main.pl?read=112890" target="_blank">here</a>

Good luck,

E. J

Bobby,

There is a company that sells tiles for use in a garage that snap together. They are not a board sponser. It you would like the link feel free to e-mail me.

Remember a post on CFG's board about the Mannington VCT tile. That looks like a good option also.

I like the idea of industrial carpet everywhere except the car parking areas. Wife thinks I am nuts, (again).

Bobby,

In the event you may be considering the epoxy paints, I would stay away from them. I had a two stage gray industrial paint professionally installed and it started lifting under the tires within a few months. I had the contractor strip it and I am now looking at the other options.

No, It was a product from the Benjamin Moore Industrial Coatings Division. They claim that they do a lot of schools, commercial buildings, etc. without any problems and offered to redo it under warranty. I have not decided yet. The product you linked sounds good (better than the BM), but so did the BMoore when I was investigating it.

I just put industrial quality Linoleum tile in my garage in black/white checkerboard pattern. Looks great. Cost about $1800 for tile and professional installation for approximately 450 square feet, plus a few steps up to house entry. I know that's a lot, but I didn't want to do it myself. I previously had epoxy paint which peeled off in big sheets after one year. I need to get a digital camera so I can post a picture.

I've not had much luck with epoxy paints on a garage floor unless it is brand new. It just never seems to be clean enough and free from oil. <a href="http://www.groitsgarage.com" target="_blank">Groits Garage</a> has some black and white polimer tiles made specifically for this type of applicaiton.

Griots sells the paint too. Anyone use it, I was thinking about it.

I've had success using the Griot's product. It doesn't lift, and is quite easy to apply.
