Default Help with a purchase

I am very interested in purchasing a RSA (I know, not a 993, sorry) in the Denville, NJ area. Because of the distance, (I'm in San Diego) I am a bit leary of this transaction. But, if I can get some support from this group, perhaps I get off my butt and get this done.

I would like a few enthusiastic recommendations of shops in the area for a solid pre-purchase inspection. Any thoughts?

Also, does anyone have any insight on cross-country shipping. I have one quote from Intercity of $1,700. Any better ideas?

Thanks for all of your sage advice.

D

I don't know any Porsche folks in that area. Check with PCA Shattenbaum or North Jersey chapters. Schattenbaum has an especially friendly and helpful bunch of folks.

David, that quote seems a bit high, but I could be wrong.. Check the archives for what other have paid for cross country transportation.. May be helpful?

That would be a nice long drive home OTOH

I paid $1100 for a car to be shipped from Seattle to DC - wasn't enclosed. Even if you are getting enclosed transport I would shoot more for $1500 tops if you can...I'd comment on the RSA but haven't had any seat time - they seem nice though. Good luck.

Here are two recent quotes received to ship my MB Sedan from Temecula CA to Syracuse NY.

DAS - Enclosed cross country but on a flatbed from their facilities warehouse to your home - $1400.00 I've heard mixed reviews from various people who have used them. Many have had damaged or extremely dirty cars even in an enclosed trailer.

Pilot Transport - $1800 Enclosed from door to door. I would trust these guys with my car, I've seen how they handled a few cars at a recent show I attended and appreciated what I saw. They handle a large portion of the one off concept cars for all the major car manufacturers.

There are several excellent independent P-car specialists in Northern NJ (which is where Denville is located). PowerTech 973 586-3210 (Mike); Autohaus 973 701-8300 (Gene); ProtoSport 973 839-5353 (John or Paul). Hope this helps.
