It's always the case with new models OG...dealers get very cocky when a new model comes out since the early adopters will pay up just to drive it. My father-in-law was close to buying a new 645ci convertible, until they got to the part where he had to pay $10,000 over sticker for the car...what a joke! I chuckle when I see knuckleheads driving the 6-Series, since I know they parted with a lot of cash just so they could be an exclusive driver of a new car for a month or two.

In six months time the same salesmen who are curt and unwilling to deal will "regular" customers will be greeting you with open arms.

For those in the Philly area, Don Rosen in Conshohocken is having a 997 unveiling reception this Saturday, I think from 10am to 2pm. I might drop by.

OG,

I just got an invitation from Rusnak in Westlake. I don't know if I'm going to make it to the "Preferred client Showing" but the invitation said to RSVP by Wed 25th. It is on Sat 28th from 10-6. Maybe I'll see you there.

Hey OG
I just saw a Black S here at Desert Euro tonight and I even got a couple spy pics. It was in the service area and on the lift with the hood open. The salesman hadnt seen it yet either and we were looking out in the back forty when I remembered they were hiding the GT Carreras in the service bays and bingo! Yes the steering wheel and rims are hideous but its a good looking machine! The salesmen are test driving them tomorrow in Fontana and saturday is the rollout. The pics are on my stupid phone( ok the phones not stupid but I am) and I'm trying to figure out how to extract them. The dealer is down to their last 2 996 coupes with no plans to try and sell them side by side with 997's...... Big Surprise Huh ?

OG,

I received an invitation from Pacific Porsche in Torrance to attend their unveiling of the 997 this Saturday (8/28). I promptly made my RSVP so I'll be there, for sure.

I'll be in Westlake, doubt that test drives will be part of the program. Perhaps I'll see you guys there, want to set a time to meet and represent the turtle en mass?

I'm beginning to think I'm the only PCA member in the world without a poster More on topic, got an invite from the dealer 35 miles away, nothing from the one up the street. Hmm.

I saw a 997 blasting around the streets of ATL a couple weeks ago. Nice looking car in person. It had different wheels than the double spoke 5 spokes that I have seen in all the pre release fluff. This was a normal(non S) car and had dealer plates. Probably someone in the Jim Ellis or Hennessy family. It would be nice to drive one to see how they compare.
