Default modifying euro clear turn signals

I'm searching for clear turn signals for my 'little black bumpered' car. I'm not ready to pull the bumperettes off of the car and am ok with their look since it's a black car......maybe someday after I get some other mods done!

Can anyone tell if theyve succesfully modified the stock euro clear turn signals to fit their 'american' car ? I've seen a post about cutting w/ Dremel, but also posts about ruining them as well.

Can anyone give me some tips ? There's about a $100 price difference between the two styles and I'm wondering if I can (successfully) cut down the stock euros to fit.
thanks !
Tim

Or go to www.departstop.com and speak to Dayton. He's very knowledgable. I just bought some from him myself. However, after looking at them and seeing how they modified them, I can assure you that almost anyone can do it.

Hi....

AJ-USA sells the clear corner set for bumperette cars (US) for $140/pair.

I couldn't find it on their website (www.ajusa.com), but I see it in their lastest catalog.

Good luck and please keep us posted as I'm interested in doing the same.

I just received the altered euro clears from departstop. They go in very nicely...just remeber to use your existing bulb base assembly and clear bulbs in the new lenses and you'll cut down on the learning curve considerably

Unhappy

They shipped the new lenses to me with orange bulbs. I think I'm going to use the orange bulbs.

Arrwin-

I called AJ-USA before going to Departstop.com. AJ said they don't sell them anymore.

I think yellow bulbs are 'required' in US (not that it really matters but may save fix-it ticket) ?
not sure though

A simple cure for the egg yolk look of orange bulbs is a $4 can of high heat silver paint. A light coat on the bulb, makes them all but disapear. I took a piece of cardboard, cut for "X's" with a utility knife to stick the socket end of the bulb in. Acts as a holder to keep you from having some funky finger nail polish and keeps the paint off the business end of the bulb. Takes all of 15 minutes and has lasted 4 years so far on my daily driver BMW. Never an issue with the police either. They still look orange when on!

I've had clear (white) bulbs for a few years w/o any issues. The motor vehicle statutes of the states I've researched (CA, NV, MD, ID, MO, IL) all permit white (or amber) front turn signals & "parking lights." You might check w/the MN State Police since the applicable MN statute requires bulbs of such color as may be approved by the commissioner of public safety.
