I'm really not seeing the problem here.
Steve said Rothsport is his partner ... why should it be a surprise that his partner's business handles physical work for Rennsport?
If the "we" on the website is Steve and Jeff Gamroth behind the scenes, where is the problem?
And as far as the web design, that's no surprise at all; I designed ImagineAuto's logo and their original website (now departed) in exchange for work on my Turbo in 2000, and you won't find my "design firm" in any state records because it's just an identity for my freelance work (yes, I pay taxes on the income). And after I consulted with Stephen and Michael on the content and designed the site, I turned it over to them to maintain. It's their business; of course they are the webmasters and developers.
In the years I've been participating in this forum (and this would date back to Porschefans, btw), Steve has been giving good, reasoned advice to people's questions. He has given me advice on Turbo upgrades, running problems, and other issues, without ever trying to sell me anything or persuade me to use his business. In fact, I never spent any money with Steve, and he didn't care. That's why you will find a lot of supporters of Steve on here, because he's selfless and generous with his knowledge. He's the Tech Advisor right here in this forum.
And the man makes a living, too, and if he sees these contributions as building goodwill and possibly customers for his business, then more power to him. If I wanted to chip my 993, I'd go to Steve. And if I lived in Oregon, I would likely have him service it.
I could care less if Steve runs his business out of a treehouse. ImagineAuto started in a home garage and has grown accordingly. If Steve has a partner to absorb the overhead, what difference does it make?

As I'm sure JimBob would say, "I ain't got no dog in this fight." My only dealings w/Steve W have been reading & learning from his professional & helpful posts on the board. I also don't know anything about Steve's business.
However, I wouldn't read too much into the lack of or errors in state registration info. It appears Steve's business is run as an unincorporated sole proprietorship which is not uncommon for a small business, although not too wise from a liability perspective. It is also quite common for a small business owner to be rather loose when it comes to filing accurate & timely state registration reports. As I read the relevant OR statute, Steve should have filed an assumed business name registration. The purpose of registering an "assumed (or fictitious) business name" is to facilitate service of process in the event of a lawsuit. It's a simple form w/a cost per the OR Secty of State's website of just $20.00.
BTW Steve, here's the form: <a href="http://www.filinginoregon.com/forms/pdf/bizreg/101.pdf" target="_blank">OR Assumed Business Name Registration (pdf)</a>

Hi:
Another required response,.......
If anyone who reads Mr. Kaminski's about posting wishes the details, I'd be MORE than pleased to provide ALL information and facts directly to anyone, and all who respond.
Indeed, the mailing address listed on the website IS my home address since my wife does all the paperwork. FYI, she is partially disabled and I do spend a part of my time at that location to help her out as well as afford the time I spend on the phone as well as e-mail with anyone who calls or needs assistance.
There are many unfactual statements in his letter and in my humble opinion, this is not the most appropriate place to air out what appears to be a very personal disagreement on his part.
Please contact me directly for any clarifications and/or questions.

Steve,
Please continue to be a true knowledgeable resource to the Rennlist Forums. Your postings are of great value to the forums.
As for the bashers, keep up the good work of driving away truely knowledgeable resources. The forums will become a great place to find cup holders for my 911!

Thanks for your polite, although IMO unnecessary, explanations. Personally, I'd much prefer you spend whatever time you have to devote to Rennlist postings continuing to address substantive questions & concerns rather than engage in a pissing contest w/an apparently disgruntled customer resting his public case on the minutia of state form completion. You've given much to Rennlist during the years I've been here & I'd hate to have this crap diminish your devotion 1 iota.
Jon (& Steve) - why don't you discuss your laundry stains off the board, where it belongs. Thanks.

Let me say immediately that I find jonfkaminsky's comments and accusations more than just illsuited to this forum, but immflammatory and malicious.
If he were truly interested in "righting" any wrong done unto him, then he would have filed suit despite the inconvenience, or else seek retribution in an otherwise appropriate manner. But to air his mean-spirited accusations and sow seeds of distrust and dishonesty here is nothing less than defamation of character. Since he apparently chooses not to sue, his gameplan seems to malign the character of one who has built a reputation of trust and honesty to many here on this board. I can't help but interpret jonfkaminsky's post as nothing short of a cheapshot and a vain attempt at smearing someone in a public forum. And for what?...as retribution for a transaction (apparently) gone bad? Such tactics betray one's weak character and childish nature, in my opinion.
By contrast, I will vouch for Steve W. here. My vouching for his good character is based solely on my desire to offer balance to jonfkaminsky's malicious post. I don't know Steve personally, never met him in person, and I've purchased one whole item from him. But from my conversations with him in the past, he has ONLY been genuinely helpful, offering his expertise freely and without solicitation, and all with a genuine enthusiasm for the sport. How else would you describe someone who NEVER sharks his wares, yet spends time on the phone, sometimes on HIS dime, to answer your questions?
Again, I have no vested interest in defending Steve, nor do I derive any pleasure in attacking anyone here. I post this simply to offer my perspective and balance to what I perceive as an injustice done on this board.
Respectfully,
Edward

I felt inclined to inform the group of my perceptions of Steve Weiner. As a relatively new 993TT owner with a vengeance for knowledge I have spoken to Steve on several occasions a received very thorough and concise recomendations. On the recent occasion when I purchased some custom suspension perches they were sent without payment in advance by me simply by my word to Steve.I would find it hard to belive that Steve is anything but a fair ,ethical professional with a passion for P-cars and a sincere desire to help.

I have benefited from 15 minutes of Steve's helpful advice on suspension, yet never bought anything from him. I hope he is rewarded tenfold for the advice he provides on this forum.
