Liteswap - If I am understanding this correctly, 6000K would give me a "blue" look and still provide adequate lighting? What are the disadvantages of the 6000K versus say the 5500K or the 4500K? Are the lower numbers less "colored" while providing more illumination than the 6000K? If the primary reason for my switch would be to get that "euro" tint to my headlights, without diminishing their existing illumination and longevity, what is the best choice for me?

Thanks

ChrisC and all other members, I am a paying member of Rennlist. My member number is 2857. I went through all the correct channels before posting this Group Buy. I spoke with John before placing this on Rennlist. I have zero affiliation with Liteswap or Catz. I did pay for my HID kit, I got the same deal as everyone else. The only I have allready placed my order was because I knew we could get more people involved if someone allready had a kit in hand. If some of you want to go another route that is fine, I just thought Eric was offering a great deal and wanted to share it with the rest of you...I hope this answers most of the questions you guys had

Brent Im not a lighting expert but I will try to answer your question. When you go from 4500k to 5500k to 6000k you loose lumens or light output. The 5500K and 6000K will give you more of a blue look but will not give you as much visibility at night. The 4500k will give you the best visiblity at night and give you a pure white look. I hope this helps..

Chris:

Good enough for Danny, good enough for me.

Based on your successful install, count me in on a 4500K Kit.

Regards

Brent,

Lots of numbers here so bear with me:

 • 4500K: Bright White @3200 lumens

 • 5500K: Slightly blue using a tinted 4500K bulb @ roughly 2400 lumens

 • 6000K: Slightly purple using a different gas, no tinting @ roughly 2400 lumens

 • standard 55W H1 bulb puts out 1550 lumens.

 • standard 55W H7 bulb puts out 1500 lumens.

I have, and always will, recommend 4500K kits. For the amount of money you are paying, you want the BEST performance possible. Some sites will try to push their higher temperature kits by telling you the output is like that of OEM and that the 4100-4500K kits are yellow, but do not be misled. All OEM bulbs are 4100-4500K. The reason you see the different colors is due to the optics design of the housing.
Now correct me if I am wrong, but the 993/996 have a projector based housing. We have found in some instances that a projector based housing may already generate the slight blue/purple color at certain angles. From directly in front though, the light is a pure white light which will outperform 5500/6000K kits quite noticeably.

Here are a couple images for reference. I do not know if many of you have seen the Acura TL, BMW or S2000 lights in person, but at certain angles they appear blue/purple, but as you can see, from directly ahead, it is the SAME color as OEM.

Chris,

As I said in my private email to you, I, and I believe most of us, really appreciate you taking the ball on this group buy. Coordinating this has to be a PITA and you probably have other things to do - like work for a living. Otherwise how can you afford that sweet Arena Red ride?

You're also doing all of us a favor by doing the install and reporting on it before the buy.

Thanks again....

Chris,

It is a GREAT color. My car has been in heated storage since Thanksgiving, so I've really worked on getting rid of the swirl marks - not to mention "de-bumperette(ing) the front and rear. I'm on Zaino Z2 coat #3 and the paint has never looked better. My car looks exactly like yours, w/o the fixed wing.

Later...

Chris--Thank you for clarifying your (lack of) affiliation with these guys. I know you were looking into how to do it within the Rennlist rules...just wanted to be sure this wasn't a case of "scam the list" with an untested vendor/product

I too appreciate you taking the lead. I reiterate my interest in a 4500 kit.

Okay. Count me in. It seems that even the 5500k gives me more light than stock, even though it's less than the 4500k. If this is correct, I am in for a 5500k set.

From what I have seen there is quite a bit of interest depending on what the outcome is when my order gets here. If you are waiting that is fine but if you want to go ahead and get on the list please email me with your shipping address.. chrisbby@advantexmail.net

Thanks

Assuming things go well with the install you can count me in as well. I will send you an email too.

Thanks for all your work on this 96P993
