Phil, do you mean the 1st gear shaft ? For all the G50 / 3x boxes the 1st gear set was 993 302 901 16, a 41:13 ratio.

cheers, Maurice

No Maurice, Steve Weiner and my mechanic told me that the 993 shaft has both 1st and 2nd gear. To be able to change 2nd gear I need a GT2 shaft apparently.

Looking at PET, the first 'gear set' is shown as the shaft, plus a separate gear. Second is a separate gear set, no shaft - that part # applies to all 3x gearboxes, not just GT2.

Only trying to help ! cheers, Maurice

Maurice,
Thanks, but this is in contradiction to what Steve Weiner and my Porsche mechanic who has worked in Stuttgart told me. Steve has done these conversions a number of times, I would think he should know.

I think what Phil meant to post was, "Maurice - Thank you very much for taking the time to try to answer my question. I really appreciate it. I am confused by a conflict between your info & what Steve Weiner and my Porsche mechanic who has worked in Stuttgart told me. I'll have to do some more research. Thanks again."

Guys, just because the PET shows one thing, that doesn't mean Porsche does things differently. When my transmission was taken apart for repair (and lower gearing added) I also had the main shaft with 2nd gear fixed and needed a new main shaft with only 1st on it to be able to alter the gearing for second.

Well, it seems to me that if the objective is to regear second, using the 'GT2' shaft will obviously change first as well . .

What Phil needs is parts 1 & 2, no ? The terminology is a touch confusing, as it is a 'gear set' for Porsche, a 'shaft' to Phil.

I'm starting my weekend now!

cheers, Maurice oh, and thanks, Dan !

P.S. The G50/3x is for the Carrera RS. I have G64/21 for my C4S. The diagram only shows synchros. I do not have to do any more research thank you. Steve does it and knows what he is talking about. Tom just confirmed this. Thanks Tom.

I have now just asked Porsche Stuttgart to supply me the part number I am looking for.

If anybody is interested, I will post it Monday when I get the answer.

And moreover the gearsets are an option when you order the car. It was not meant that you could just replace them as is. For this you need a GT2 racing component.

I guess you are talking about the GT2 part, if so, please do, I am interested.
Thanks
