Default Offset Question

Looking at RH Alurad Wheels. The front is 18x8.5 and the rear is 18x10. The offsets I have to choose from are 45 or 56 for the front. For the rear it is 40 or 54. I would imagine the rear would be a no brainer as the 40 would most definitely not fit the rear fenders of my narrow body car. My question really pertains to the front. My car is lowered with H+R Coilovers and sits pretty low. Do you think these will fit. I know 'Poon' has these on his narrow body but I dont know how low his car is or what offsets he is running. Thanks!

I have RH Cup AG wheels, and the problem for a narrow body is the rear, not the front (sorry, I don't remember my front offsets but I can check next week). If you're around RS height you may get some rubbing in the rears with a set of wide 265's.

I have Kinesis K28 wheels in 18x8.5 and 18x10 for my narrowbody. My offsets are 47F/65R. H&R springs, RS height, 2.5F/2.0R neg camber and no fender rolling.

I have 18x8.5 Roocks that are 45mm. Car has PSS9's and lowered to RS. I am running 1.8 negative camber in the front. I think if you went with the 56mm, you may have rubbing on the inside.

So it looks like I would have to go with the 45 on the front but you think the rear would not fit with the 54? I know Poon has these wheels but he hasn't responded to my inquiries about his offsets. His car looks lowered. Thanks again for all your help. Preventing a bad purchase is worth my $18.

I believe the 55 ET was for a 17"x9" wheel in the rear. The added 1" for a 10" wheel given a 55 ET would not be correct. Am I missing something here?

Right but the RH wheels are only available in the rear with either a 40 or a 54. Yes the 52/65 setup works well on these cars. Unfortunately those typically are only found with factory wheels. Even the new BBS RE 1 piece forged wheels have some whacky offsets.

Hi,
I just went through this very same investigation a couple of days ago. I contacted Dave down at Wheel Enhancement to ask him about offsets for this rim for fitment to my 97 narrow body. His recommendation was 56 mm for the front and 54 mm for the rears. I am running on PSS9's so he also mentioned that as far as tire selection goes, I'd need 265/35ZR18's on the rear (I am dropped down to about RS height...I believe your H&R's probably take you lower than that though...so tire selection will be your concern w.r.t. this offset). My search through past threads on this rim indicated that it was also a heavy rim...maybe those of you who have it installed on your 993's could chime in? Cosmetically, they're a nice looking wheel....

but for a street car, does 4 lbs per wheel really matter. My H&Rs are low but to be honest if it is lower than RS height I would be surprised.

40 in the rear is the factory wide body offset. I do not think those will work in the rear. I think the 54 will work in the rear although I would be concerned about the inside, specifically the oil line rubbing.

Yes, these WILL work in the rear. I'm doing it right now. But I wouldn't recommend going below RS height like me and running wide 265 tires like the S02, because then you may get some rub on the fender. If you're not this low then it won't be a problem, or you could go this low and use a different tire. Heck, if you're running factory height then you can even get 285 under it (I did).

Also, these wheels are not actually very heavy. I did some research a few months ago and they're not bad. Maybe a couple pounds each more than hollow spokes or something like that.

I ran a 18x10 wheel ET54 on the rear of my old 95 993 with H&R springs and stock shocks. Car was pretty low. Tires were 265/35 Yoko A008s and I experienced a little rubbing on the rear portion of fender lip about 2 or 3 inches before it reached the bumper cover. The rubbing occurred only on dips at SoCal intersections. A little prying on the fenders opened it up just enough to resolve the problem. It must have been pretty close. Good luck
