Windscreen creaking -Old problem, I know, but....
Gents
I fitted the cord that I purchased from Schatz to my '97 993S, single layer at base of windscreen, double/triple elsewhere. The noise now seems to have spread to numerous locations and is worse than ever !!! What the hell do I do now?? Is it normal that you can only use single layer at base of windscreen due to gap being smaller than at top of screen??? Help!!

Francesco,
Do you already have a strut tower brace? This seems to tighten the front end and reduce the dreaded squeak according to some owners.
After installing it on mine, the squeak occurs less often but is still there from time to time. I view these occasional episodes as opportunities to listen to the radio at a more "enthusiastic" volume.

Francesco,
Did you saturate the void with lexol vinyl protectant. That is what I was told to do and the noise disappeared after the treatment. I did not try it without the lexol, so I don't know what the result of the cord only would be. The windshield noise begins to come back about once a year, I resoak the area and it goes away again.

I was able to stuff two layers in everywhere except the top of the rear window where the 3rd tail light assembly gets in the way. I used 3M silicon lubricant spray that I got from Schatz and is applied after the cord is installed, so it may work for you. It has a little straw applicator (like WD40) that you can easily get under the rubber seal. It's been a great silencer for me.

Dieter,
NO. I just forced/squeezed it in (3 layers), then applied the lexol by prying the rubber lip up with a plastic knife (handle end) and shooting the liquid in the void, all around the seal.
