Yup, always try the DME first, and always have a spare in the car.
You may want to check out the F9 (Focus 9) solid state DME relay ...no mechanical contacts. A bit pricey perhaps, but I figure if it lasts the time span of two standard relays I'm good, and perhaps offers me the peace of mind that there's nothing inside to carbonize and fail. And regular DMEs often fail intermittently before finally going kaput ...my two in the past have, stalling the car while driving, yikes! Then mysteriously starts back up. No good, for sure! Fwiw.
Always cool to have the little tikes get in. I remember those days ...screams of fun from the back, to be sure! And now, it's the g-kids' turn!

I fitted the F9 solid state relay in 2021 - I've had no hint of a failure since.

No grandkids yet, but I remember when my kids were small and in the back of the 993 they used to laugh out loud when the high-level brake-light bathed them in red

Fantastic pic, Seb! I have fond memories of taking our daughter out when she was a young kid. Now she's 6' and in her second year of college...
Glad it was the DME relay.

FYI I had the F9 DME Relay and caused my car to run like shat cutting out intermittently almost killed me. They gave me a full refund but that was in the 1st week of installing it. Put my OEM DME in and zero problems since.
Alrighty, you started it, Seb!
Looong ago, all grown up these days. But great reminders that the tikes grow up faster than a chipped TT so learn em right and enjoy em lots!
