Is it possible, and has anyone done it? How and how much? I also have heated seats which may complicate things. Thanks for the info in advance.

TechArt does those sorts of things; check with Joe Vatter at GermanTech in Largo, FL. http://www.germantech.com
Ask for one of the 993 catalogs; the custom interior photos from there will knock your socks off. Here's one from a 964:

Mark:
I went from partial leather 8 way power drivers and 4 way passenger to full out supple leather from a TT.
It took a while to find a good set of seats. The install was an easy bolt in. I sold my old seats so that it offset the "ouch" of the TT seats.
I can say that it made for a nicer "feeling" interior. I really noticed the improvement in the leather when driving in shorts ! Looks nice too.
I have since found full leather door panels and center console. Another nice add.
I am leaving the back leatherette as I have a two year old in a car seat back there. The "split" makes for a great Dad / Son combo !
Go for it !
