Hi Everyone:
A while back someone posted a picture of their black C2 with SSR GT3 wheels. I searched the archives but could not find it. If someone with these wheels could post a picture I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Tony

Tony,
Not the best shot after the pic resize, but hope you get the idea.
These are the 18" SSR GT3 and I would be careful making your decision.
They are very light which equals they can (and probably will) bend and crack easily. I already had to fix both rears in the same spot from cracks. The PO had these on the car when I purchased it. If I had to do it and replace them, IMO, I wouldn't go with these. You also can't by any of the 3 pcs for repair, only a new wheel outright.

Evan brings up some good points. Before you buy wheels do your homework. Wheels are not created equally!!!! Advertisments of forged, cast and alloy materials of T 6061/6063 do not in and of itself equal strength or quality.

Here's a couple that I have saved from the past. Might even be the same car now that I look at it. My all time favorite wheels!!!

I am surprised to hear of durability issues with these wheels. The BMW guys love 'em (or at least used to last I knew) and the centers are forged. Should I cross these off my wish list?
Oh well, I probably don't need new wheels anyway...the main problem with the OE technology wheels is that they are too light and good looking to easily justify a replacement!

Steve - It looks like the 1st and 2nd pics are different cars? The first one does look like mine, the 2nd has a different front splitter and no clear corners like the first?
Where was that first car located? Sure does look like the one I own now. It's hard to tell if it's midnight blue or black and does seem to be a '95 C4.

Thanks to everyone who responded. Yes, those are the pictures I was searching for. Seems each time I find a wheel I like there are problems with them. I spoke to a fellow club member yesterday and he said he was having trouble with a cracked Fikse. Tony

Tony - I am not sure since the car has been tracked and is driven normally.
I am also not sure if these wheels were cracked before I bought the car. The PO had tracked the car as well. I think the only De events that the car has seen was at Limerock which is fairly bumpy and has different surfaces.
My independent wrench said that both rears were cracked in the same place which was on the inside bottom of the rim. He thought most likely a pot hole.
The wheel fix it guy said that they weren't too bad and he could fix them. He also said that he wouldn't fix a 3 pc rim if he didn't think it would hold and be safe. He did however mention that lightweight 3 pc rims are prone to cracking and bending, especially 18''s. Most of the 3 pc rims he sees can't be fixed, so I guess I was lucky???
They look great, but at what cost? I think my next set will be the '02 Carrera 5 spoke 1 pc rims.

Evan......You're right that they are two different cars. The one that looks like yours use to belong to a guy named Al that went by "abbott" on this forum. He has a web site showing a few shots of this car and what appears to be his new Speed Yellow 996TT. He is in NJ I believe.
Here's a link to the site http://www.locodemoto.com/Porsche.htm
I noticed he has SSR's on his new TT also, so he must think they are OK!
