Post help

I am thinking of buying a new 993. But I have not a clue has to what color to buy. I realize it will be my money, that buys the car, but....I cannot choose a color. Come too think of it, what should I pay for the car? I looked at one car, and it had a scratch on it...should I pass on it? I also looked at another car, but it had like 30k more or less in mods!....are mods worth the price? what are the good mods? that car had a lot of rock chips, and I think the owner may have had the car on a race track once or twice!!

I am also worried about going off the road on a lonely country rd. Will a c4s, or a tt save me from this? can I get a 993 with the option of water cooled?, I hear water cooling is much better than cooling by air? has anyone heard of this option?

Can I sue the dealer for the wire harness issue?
I have not sued anyone for awhile....so I am ready!

If I get a yellow car, what wax should I use?

Olav,
No.....I have been really trying to buy a new 993, all I can find are these cars that have been modifed, or altered...or have more than 1000 miles!!!!!
I guess I should have siad, I really am looking for a new 993 with less than 1000 miles.

I have looked at a speed yellow car, but it had over 5000 miles! it was a 1996 model! I know I am on a 993 board, but what kind of person would put that kind of mileage on a car???

I also looked at a grey car.....this was the car with over 50k miles on it!!!!!!did this person , just drive for the fun of it???.,,,oh yeah...according to the owner, it had over 30k in Modifactions!.....Like I am gonna pay for them??, he also told me he had, done a "drivers ed" event? what is that?....did he abuse the car???

BTW, how much higher should the driver's side of my car be so it'll level out when I get in? Is it based on my weight & if so, is it after or before I've eaten? If I sell my car will it need to be re-balanced for the new owner?

Oh yeah - how can I downshift & signal a turn while I'm on my handheld cell phone? I tried wedging the phone between my shoulder & head, but it just popped out the window & was run over by a pimple faced kid in a Jeep. Is this a common problem w/the 993?

Dan,
Thanks for your response, and I guess Kim.

I just don't get it...all I did was ask for some advise...Jeesh...are all 911 owners the same.?

Dear Bob,

(IMHO)

If I were you, I think I would buy a car that could have matched with Joseph's coat. In that way you well have a color that may appeal to everyone. Oh, and you wont notice any scratches or chips either.

By the way, I recall reading somewhere that it is not worth buying a car that has had more than 46 miles. So I understand your concern.

I believe that "Drivers Ed" is a service that the passenger is able to provide. Although that is not necessarily the case. Please dont worry about going off the road on a lonely country rd, as long as you have "Drivers Ed"

Th grey car might have actually been black at some point. But the car could have left in the rain for too long, and the color's run. This might also happen when one uses Clothes detergent to wash the car. I just hope the car didnt shrink.

Some one once told me that water cooling is much better than cooling by air? But it has to be really cold water, and I dont have a fridge.

You are asking quite a lot of questions here and I hope I have been of some help. Maybe JimBob and a few other might be able to chime in.

ps, No Porsche owners abuse their cars, otherwise they get reported to the Social services, or even worse the Porscheholics Anonymous.

911 owners are not all the same. Neither are they always the same. Otherwise there would only be a need for 1 911 owner. As you can see I am trying to be very sincere. You may ignore those who think they know it all!!!

Apologies to anyone who may have been offended by this thread.

Just having a quiet Thursday morning.

bob7,

Just to clearify one thing.

Bins is from Europe, Driver's Ed has different meaning there.

I assume you are in US, where Driver's Ed means "Give Driver a Head" (service normally given by opposite gender but I guess there are other options available).

FYI, Pam Andersson has been known to be one of US' premier DE service providers. There are even DE instruction videos (with guest star, multi-talented, Tommy Lee) available.
Her DE team, VIP, is know for pretty darn good 'instructors'!

There's also entry level, lower cost service but we won't go there...

Uhhhhh, yeah -, OK... I've seen a TON of 1000 mi or less newish 993's on various Porsche web sites recently . Where are you looking?
Also, I wouldn't want to pay for those mods either. In fact, you could probably save alot of money if you buy a stripper without seats, door handles or a hood - that would save alot of weight, too.
As far as driver's ed, that's what happens when you first get your license and have to go to the DMV to learn how to drive. I guess that could be hard on your car if you run it into a jersey barrier or something.
Yes, if you found a car with a scratch, you should definitely pass on it. Lots of cars with under 1000 mi without those nasty scratches.
Color? I would get one in white, as they don't scratch at all.
Cost? I'm guessing, about $75k for a nice scratch-free C2 under 1000 miles without all those mods.

Come on guys! How about giving this new member some honest advise?

You should personally contact Phil McGrath. He would certainly be able to answer any and all of your concerns better than all of the rest of us put together. If you're lucky, you might even live somewhere near him. I wouldn't know anything about that though . . .
