1998 C2S purchase question
Can anyone recommed a reliable Porsche Dealer or independent mechanic to evaluate this car? It is located in Beverely Hill, California.
To Miller98C2S it's silver enterior and black interior.

I purchased, in March of 2002, a 1998 C2S with 4,200 miles on it. Sport Seats, Sport Suspension, Limited Slip, Motor Sound, SS Chrome Exh., Factory Turbo S Aero Kit. Zenith Blue, Classic Grey. I purchased the car for $63,000. Asking price was $69,995.
Get a hold of a wholesale weekly "black book". You can expect to pay some $1,500 to $5,000 over wholesale price.

IMHO, only two places I'd recommend for the PPI in LA.......Red Line in Santa Monica (310) 450-7414, and Callas Rennsport in Torrance (310) 370-7038

As another datapoint I just sold a '98 Carrera S, artic silver/classic grey, no aerokit, 18" hollow spokes, partial leather, stainless sills, hifi, 44K miles for $53K (my asking price). The PPI showed the car to be flawless. It took about 6 weeks to sell at this price. I had numerous inquiries and several offers in the high 40's and low 50's. Most of the inquiries were from autotrader.com but the buyer saw my ad in Panorama.
The Edmunds "True market value" of my car is in the range of $42-$46K. I feel this is too low. I want to give some encouragement for Carrera S owners who might be thinking their cars are facing a valuation crisis. Don't worry there are quite a few people out there that are hunting for these cars and your cars are quite desirable. By the way I found most people to be very interested in the original aerokit and the supple leather. If you have these options you will have an easier time selling in my opinion.

Buy the car before someone else does. It is priced right IMHO. You dont want to be saying ouch: as somebody else is driving your dream car off into the sunset.
And if you buy the car, we'll let you post here!

Many thanks to all who responded to my questions regarding the value of the 1998 C2S.
dcpmark was generous enough to offer to look at the car from a cosmetic perspective and take some pictures for me tomorrow.
I've already talked to Art at Callas Rennsport, who said Tony could evaluate the car.
Thanks again,
Ron
