Default CDR 210 Pic

I am trying to install a CDR 210 in my '95 and I am not sure it is fitting correctly into the dash opening. Would someone do me a favor and post a closeup pic of their CDR 210 so I can see what it looks like in someone else's dash? Thanks in advance.

Randy,

I don't have mine in the car anymore (therefore no ability to take pics), but it fits just fine straight into the dash. It may stick out 1/4" or so, but that is correctly installed and sitting in the dash.

If you take a pic and post it, I'll tell you if it looks installed correctly.

I'll help you in a couple days when my CDR-210 arrives and I get it installed.

Here you go. When I first saw the title of the post, I thought there were pics of YOUR CDR-210 and therefore I skipped it because I have seen one before

Enjoy and good luck.

Randy,

thanks for the pics. I definitely need to try my install again because mine was sticking out further than yours. Thanks for all the other replies as well. This board is great!

Randy
Was the wiring connection a direct plug-in or did you have to make any modifications?

since Randy M's car is a '96, it would be wired for, and equipped with, the CDR-210 (or CR-210 cass.) from the factory.

Edit- to clarify which Randy i was referring to

Randy # 1, dmbgamer, is trying to install this in a 95C2, which is what I also have. I have read numerous threads and the question is still unclear whether this is a direct swap between the later models and the 95, which came with the CR-1 radio.

My recollection is that the left lower corner of the radio is supported by a bracket that the radio slides into and rests on. There is a large black wire bundle in that vicinity and sometimes that bundle gets between the radio and the bracket. This will prevent the radio from going forward where it belongs.

I had my independent Porsche shop swap my CR-1 for the CDR-210 when I had the car in for the 60K service. They didn't know a lot about Porsche stereos, so I just told them to see if they could make it work. They told me later it wasn't much of a problem, and I didn't get the impression that major surgery was required. Mine looks exactly like the photos in Randy M's post.

Jerry,

The original wiring harness worked with no modification with the CDR-210.

Thanks. Did you finish your installation?

Jerry,

I did not finish the installation. There is a problem with the radio. It has some corrosion on the lower plug and will not function correctly.
