New to me 993 inbound (hoping it is a good one)!
So after 30+ years of Porsche ownership I have a '96 993 shipping to me this week. The buying process has been the fastest and riskiest I have ever taken with no PPI, and did not see the car in person. Sounds like a description of what one should never do...
But it is a one owner CA car with records from new. Minor damage on the CarFax in the front due to a break in attempt (thief was trying to access the frunk). Recent top end, clutch and control arms. The title, service records and spare keys arrived this weekend.
The waiting is the hardest part. Stay tuned!

I had a PPI and still had to do the top end some years later. A different philosophy and one I would do if I bought another 993, would be to go for the cheapest non-accident one I could find, and have everything done with the savings. you likely will want to adkjsut the suspension to your wants/needs, engine and mods are very individual, and even with a PPI, the SAI on these cars likely will need attention sooner or later. It might be nearly clogged, which wouldn't show in a PPI. If you save the money up front, and have it done at a shop of your choosing or yourself, if you are so inclined, then you KNOW it was done. I spent a ton of money in 2018 to have the top end and a bunch more done, but now I know what I have, and that it is done right. (Dan at RSTRADA did the work) I bought my car in 2007, so it was only $30K back then, so I had the fortune of timing, but as long as there isn't anything obviously wrong with the car, not having a PPI (at least in my opinion) isn't a major show stopper. Personally, I shop the seller more so than the car, so if you did that well, then you should be fine.
The fact that the PO had a folder with organized records is indicative of on time service, and good care. I am pretty confident you will be fine!
Congrats! and Welcome!

Congratulations. I bought my 96 C4 a two owner car that had been owned by the seller for ten years. No PPI and that was eight years ago and it has been a great car and when I bought it it had 116,000 miles on it. The previous owner had a top end done and clutch, tires and brakes etc. done. You will be fine enjoy it.
