Post Bug stains on clear bra -

I have sent this question to Invinca Shield as well, but thought perhaps someone here has already found the solution. I just took a road trip from SF to LA and back. There were lots of bugs out there on I5 and the car was coated upon return. After washing the car, I noticed many small mustard colored bug stains in the clear bra that will not wash out. I have tried goo gone citrus cleaner, meguiars plastic polish, and a standard bug and tar remover to no avail. Any suggestions?

Have you tried Soft Scrub or maybe a bit of bleach and sunlight?

I'm afraid soft scrub would scratch the material. As for bleach - that is interesting. I wonder if that can harm plastic?

I would not use bleach or hair spray. Bleach can degrade the plastic and hairspray contains solvents that could do the same. Did you try buffing it with the plastic polish/cleaner?

Bill: you just need to paint your car a darker color so it won't show! (Is the 930 back yet?)

Yep - the color definitely shows off the "mustard" stains. Hopefully I will hear back from Invinca Shield soon as I can't imagine this is a new problem.

The road trip to LA was to retrieve the 930, which was accomplished without incident (other than the bug-o-cide).

While we were at Willow Springs again on Saturday there was another DE group there having problems. An Acura RS went off hard in turn 9 and rolled 3 times. Both occupants were removed via ambulance and suffered broken bones. I am told that after we left another car went off in the same spot and hit the pit wall.

Bill,
3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner will work to remove the stains. Get at any auto-body paint supplier. This should be safe for the invinca-shield, but try on a corner or scrap piece 1st.
This is (I'll bet) what invinca-shield would recommend.

Try using "Plexus Plastic Cleaner Protectant & Polish".

It works well on my Stongard.

Any Search Engine will give you a picture of the can...

You also can try, P21 cleaner, or Wurth Zebra spray, which is less agressive. They both have worked well for me.

You know - the kills bugs fast thing did occur to me - the car is a 993TT. Lacquer thinner actually removed a few of the stains, but required a lot of work. I will have to track down one of the suggestions above - if only there was a auto paint sotre near by.

Yeah - Michele was driving the TT, so the bugs were getting killed very fast. It was complete carnage on the nose. I just ordered some Plexus - I hope it works.

I've had the same problem on one of my cars. When the yellow stains got me, I immediately called the dealer. He told me that the stains simply fade after washing. I didn't believe it at first, but they were right. They fade away after a few days... maybe a week. It's true. I've stained mine several times since and they're all gone now. I did nothing special.

I know, I know... it's still very annoying. Not what I was expecting after shelling out for a "shield".
