Thumbs up

Jimmy,

Sounds like a great trip! Did you put the stringer 'o trout in the trunk or inside the cab?

Like several others, I drive my 993TT EVERY day. Used it as a snowmobile last winter here in Kentucky (after all, it is a AWD, and they've been doing it since the 356 days in Germany). I even have two car seats in the back, although I must admit that I try to minimize the length of time that dried milk hangs out on the rear seat leather.

My experience mirrors Garey's: the car seems to get better with age / use.

Just got back from 80 miles of "real" driving today. Unfortunately, I did manage to pick up some bugs, so it's time to wipe down the car.

I'm a strictly Catch and Release trout fisherman, however, I did catch some of the Humboldt Crabs, now stop it right there with the jokes....it's a semi-pro baseball team that plays in Arcata...

Ray,
I have 64000 miles on my 94 , 993 carrera. I got it with 30000 and have put 34000 on it it 2 years. I would agree that it just gets better with age. I would, however, recommend the cleaning treatments every so often ie to remove carbon build up.
I take every chance I can to drive it for long trips and am currently debating with my self whether to drive across Europe ( I am based in London) or find a hot sandy beach somewhere with the three essential S's.

Tito.

Many thanks

Stuart - It's different for West Coast Americans, to them going to Hawaii is like us going to spain. When I leved there they always recommend places to party ("zowy maui" as they say) or chill out. But if you are flying half way around the round you may want to see the famous bits as shown on 5-O and Magnum, Pearl Harbor etc (what else is there to do or your honeymoon) although, Oahu/Honolulu WAS totally commercialised and is indeed just like staying in Majorca.

Cool

I have 28,000 miles on my 97 C2, about 11,000 are mine put on in the last 1 1/2 years. The car is smoother/better the more I drive it.

I work at home and have no daily commute. I have to drive to LA in traffic a few times: I avoid this like the plague, especially with a 6 speed 993. I take the Windstar Van (Company Car). If I get in a fender bender...who cares.

Hawaii: Consider the Mauna Kea Hotel on the Big Island. It is an epic, the first big hotel on the Big Island, built by the Rockerfellers (sp?) in the early 80's I believe. It is not in any way gaudy and has good restaurants on the premises. In addition, it is close to the mountain town of Weimea that has lots of great restaurants, example Merrymans.

You can go to the top of Mauna Kea in a Turbo powered Ford van, some 13,000 feet, and watch an incredible sun down, as well as observe the clam shell doors on the 10+ observatories opening at the same time. There are snow plows up there in case in snows in the winter time.

If you want to fish, Kailua-Kona is world renown. If you want to muck around, there is no better muck than what is found at Volcano State Park. And finally the best part, the Big Island is not crowded like Maui, Oahu and Kauai. Kauai is my second favorite, but that is another story.

Stuart,

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier.

Yes, the choices that Nick,Chad and Kevin offered were top notch Hotels. There are many beautiful hotels and beaches that I can suggest off line email me at leed012@hawaii.rr.com

Just let me know what island you prefer, the dates and times and I will set you up and make a few calls. Besides if you have to impress the wife-to-be why not do it with style and with a local boy that knows the islands.
