Post Gert Carnewal IS the man.

Placed an order with (Rennlist sponsor) Gert Carnewal for his M030 w/HD Bilstein package last Sunday night & it arrived at my mechanic's this morning (Thursday). That's less than 4 days from Belgium.

This "global economy" just blows me away, and Gert makes it easier than going to a local store. I'm impressed!

Just out of curiosity what do you guys in the US pay for duties?

We (that's the royal we!) in Canada get screwed as usual. 6% duty for non-US originated car parts ; 7% Federal sales tax and 7.5% local provincial sales tax. Its compounded in that we pay tax on the duty as well so it works out to about 21.4% over the price in Canadian dollars...don't let me go there either!

John
I had the package delivered directly to Reid Vann (not a Rennlist sponsor ) for the install, alignment & corner balance. Unfortunately my schedule makes me wait a few weeks for the install - I hate delayed gratification.

I see you're signed up for the July Gateway DE so we'll get to meet and I can get a look at your Traffic Pro.

Never done this before, so I've no idea what to expect, but so far the answer is no.

Gert shipped my Row M030 Bilstein HD on Tuesday and they will be in my Mechanics hands tomorrow and installed on Monday. One caveat, to meet custom regs Gert must ship to your billing address. At his suggestion I "intercepted" the order by calling DHL and got them to modify delivery so they will be sent directly to my mechanic. All the good reports previously reported on the board about Mr. Carnewal were dead on.

Kim

Interesting-

To Gert: Are there any problems shipping this item directly to my mechanic?

From Gert: For the US, it is required that the name on the invoice is the same as the shipping address. It is however possible to call DHL with the tracking # that we provide and ask them to re-route the parcel to your mechanic. Here in Europe things are different as this is a free trade zone.

Was your order before or after 9/11?

A huge thanks to all of you guys for addressing the duty and customs issues I was wondering about in dealing with Carnewal.

I am planning on purchasing a number of items for my C4S when it arrives (June or July ) and now I will most certainly order them from Gert based on all of the great things I've heard about him in these forums. Thanks again!

Another bouquet for Gert from this happy Rennlister, too. Terry and I got the ROW030+Bilstein kits , with both installs done this week at CA in Mountain View. Told my wife that I'm spending all Saturday doing a shakedown run in the mountains so that we can tell you all about it on Sunday.

Gert is responsive, responsible and attentive to details. Ordering and shipping went fine. Picked up my car from CA after lunch today and went for a 140 mile twisties drive over to and along the coast. What a difference! Will post a detailed report after a few more miles.

Come on guys,
Gert will have to buy a Targa to be able to fit his head in it at this rate !!

FYI he is just as good to deal with from this side of the pond.
And Gert, I hear you are considering coming over for one of our meets, if we can make one on a Friday. It would be great to see you again.

If you want I can find you a bed at our place. The place is still a mess, but the garage is looking good !!

June meet is looking to be a Tuesday again, but there is always July & August

I might even have a list of bits for you to bring over with you !

Cheers all,
Bank hols this weekend again here, so see you all next week. Have a good one.

John.

I bought a FPB with a few other small items from Gert last year, and never got billed for any duty. It probably only happens on larger amounts.

Service was excellent, as everyone has said.

Kim, let me know if I owe you any duties on the "piggyback" order you did for me a few months ago!
