Blaupunkt Frankfurt

The radio will switch itself off after completing the update. Wait 10+ seconds and switch on again. Check you have the correct update and if so go on your way, no reset required. If the update has not worked you need to reset.
I can leave my phone plugged into the Frankfurt USB and listen to music; the phone will not lose charge but will not gain any either, it just maintains the status quo. If I am running Waze with screen on and using BT to send music then it will not retain charge as 800mA is not enough current. I fitted a small USB fast charger velcroed to the underside of the ashtray.

I am updating my unit right now, how long ago Blaupunkt gave you this firmware update? Just to know how updated it is, thanks again
edit: after installing the latest firmware I noticed (maybe I did not notice before) that the bass and treble are independent for each source, the default was the minimum (-12 for both bass and treble) and I set it for the tuner just to notice later Bluetooth streaming had the same -12, so you can keep independent (don’t know the purpose though) bass and treble settings for tuner vs streaming.

hello I emailed Blaupunkt and I got an August dated update
One of the things resolved was the -12 bass treble after update bug (bass and treble are still independent of the source though)
there’s something related to how the unit is connected to the battery that affects the IPod that might help you
there’s TWO updates that must be installed separately (1 runs from NORMSET option and 2 runs automatically and it is way faster)
you will need TWO USB drives to perform the update as you cannot copy both files into the same one. I used the same USB drive twice if you just replace the update 1 to update 2 after performing the first one.
you need to NORMSET reset the unit after each update.

Helpful recent posts, thanks!
Has anyone else set their own 14-band equaliser (EQ)?
If so, how do you force it to be active all the time? It seems I have to manually activate it but would prefer it stays on across BT and FM modes.
Note, this is very likely user error rather than anything related to firmware or software limitation.

One last thing, do you happen to know what are the purpose of the FR/FF buttons?
the manual states
“6 FR / FF buttons
Control the source-specific functions (PTY search, fast rewind, fast forward, band search)”
fast rewind and fast forward what? The unit doesn’t control CDs and it doesn’t work with BT streaming.
maybe with a connected IPhone/Ipod through the USB??

1. Download the zip file. Unzip it and you will have a readme.txt and two folders (Update 1 and Update 2). Read the readme.txt carefully!
2. Open Update 1 folder and there will be an .mp3 file and a .lic file - copy these to a clean USB thumb drive
3. Switch on radio and put USB drive in front USB socket of radio - it will display 'Front USB'
4. Press Menu button (top left) and navigate to 'Settings' then 'Version' - take a note or photo of the version number.
5. Press the key >> the unit will now display FILE CHK followed by UPDATE? Press >> again to start update process. Display will turn red and show a counter. When it reaches 100 radio will switch off.
6. Remove USB drive and switch radio back on.
7. Back at your PC delete the two files on the USB drive. Now copy the two files from the Update 2 folder to the drive. One is a .mp3 file and the other a .MVA file
8. With radio switched on insert USB drive, radio switches to USB and displays READING and then UPDATE?
9. Confirm the UPDATE? prompt by pressing >> It will take 15 seconds and the display will return to UPDATE? Do not press any keys, just remove the USB!
10. Navigate to 'Settings' and to 'NORMSET' and press >> Radio will reset. Check 'Version' is P3812114X and you are good to go.

LOL didn't know there was a Blaupunkt NA to sell...do they even offer any products domestically?
Would be great if they come out with US versions of the Bremen and Frankfurt with HD Radio instead of DAB...
