Question Group Buy Spoiler Module

A few people have sent me PM's about this but I've not heard back for them, so it looks like I'm the only one that wants one of these.

The terms are as follows: If interested please post in this thread.

The price on five or more would be $300.00 USD, I would prepay freight
if they were shipped to one destination, on 10 or more $ 285.00 USD

Delivery time on 5 to 10 units is 10-14 days.

Thanks

I have a FedEx account and I would estimate that the cost of shipping FedEx ground, insured for $300 would be somewhere between $5 to $10 depending where in the U.S. you lived.

I was quoted $20 shipping if I were to purchase one which would bring the cost for me to $345.

Ron,
Must have missed this one. What spoiler are you referring to?

Alan,

It's made by RUF and this is what is does.

Ruf do offer a spoiler activation module, it changes the spoiler
elevation speed from 50 MPH to 75 MPH and will lower the spoiler at 45
mph. The module is in stock and is a plug and play option.

The price was $325.00 USD, Shipping and handling is $20.00 USD"

I have one of these modules. It is the best modification I have on my car...and I have PSS9's, RSR muffler's, and 18" hollowspokes, if that tells you anything!!

Stupid question: do you notice when spoiler goes up or down and what position it is in? After driving car for couple days I can't tell and I really miss seeing that very cool feature at work!

small,

Some people think that is a cool feature.

Others think it is a stupid feature. I'm one of the others. I don't want to offend anyone so I'm not saying I'm right. I don't think having the spoiler extended serves and useful purpose at speeds lower than say 75 mph.

Someone else said that the function may be to help Porsche sell parts for the spoiler motor which will wear out sooner from going up and down all the time. Now that makes sense.

Is there [anything useful in] extra air flow directed at engine, created by spoiler wall extending up when the rear spoiler is up?

small,

You make a good point. However, I would think that if oil temp is a concern, ie gauge indicates it’s higher than you would like to see, you could always raise the spoiler manually.

I can see when the spoiler is UP...looking in the rearview mirror, I can just see the top of the spoiler. FYI, the spolier module for the European cars raises and lowers the same as the Ruf module (up @ 78mph and down @38mph), so from a "is it gonna hurt the car" standpoint, I don't think there is any issue. I just got tired of it going up and down all the time...plus I don't want to have to replace that motor any sooner than necessary. Also, I much prefer the look of the car with the spoiler DOWN.

Allen,

If the RUF module is the same as the ROW Porsche one, why can't we just buy the Porsche one? Would it be a plug and play like the RUF? Cheaper?

Just wondering.

Not having actually used a ROW module, I can't say if in fact they are the same. However, I do know that the raise/lower speeds are the same as the Ruf module.

As far as the cost...I really can't imagine a Porsche part being cheaper than ANY 3rd party vendor. You might ask around the board to see if anybody with a ROW module wants to swap with you...I had a guy when I bought mine that wanted to swap with me, but I had already ordered the module from Ruf.

How do I access the module? I may try to pull the one from my Euro 993 and see if it will work on the US car. If I do it, I'll report back.

David, it is up under the dash, just left of the glove box. It is approx. 1"x3".
The PET shows the exact part number for the ROW module and the N. American module, so i will bet $1 it raises/lowers at the same speed.
