95-993 Clutch micro-switch part number
Hello, I was wondering if any of you can help me find a part number for the clutch micro-switch. I keep finding different part numbers on the web and most of the threads on here list possible issues with the cruise control but don't offer a part number for the suspected faulty micro-switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hmmm. I don't think the 95s had the clutch micro switch. What are the symptoms?

Really? My cruise control has been working intermittently over the past two years that I've owned my car. It finally stopped working a few months ago. I'm trying to troubleshoot my system. I took my car to a mechanic a month ago to have a little work done on it. While it was there I asked him to take a look at my CC and do some troubleshooting. He told me that everything looked fine, and that he thought that the actuator was bad. I ordered a used one off of ebay that was supposed to be working and put it in my car. The CC still doesn't work. I want to see if there are any other switches that I should check before sending my entire system off to Bergvillfx in the UK to have it bench tested.

We thought you were referring to the clutch safety switch which doesn't allow the vehicle to start until the clutch is depressed. See #18 on p.209 p/n 993 613 415 00 https://www.porsche.com/all/media/pd...93_KATALOG.pdf

Yes, I was referring to the clutch safety switch. I was under the impression that if you have cruise engaged and you press the brake or the clutch it will disengage CC. So I want to replace this switch first to see if it could be the problem. Thank you for the part number, I really appreciate it.
I can start my car with the clutch in either position. There isn't a safety switch on '95's.
I hope this helps.

Hi Sam,
My understanding is the function of the switch is so the starter will not run without the clutch peddle to the floor. Also, it is unrelated to cruise control.
Most folks who drive with a shift press the peddle to the floor as a normal habit when starting their car.
I also understand it is only present on later model year 993
My 1996 example has no switch.
Some bypass the switch as it is not needed and is a point of failure that can get one stranded if it fails.

A little backstory: When I first bought my 993, I had a PPI done. During the inspection, it was identified that the CC did not work. So I drove home to San Diego. I tried the CC multiple times and it wouldn't work. And then out of nowhere, it started working again. It would do this throughout the course of my ownership. It would work sometime, and sometimes it wouldn't. I tried messing around with the brake and clutch pedals to see if it was an issue with them not returning to their original position. Earlier this year I was driving on the HWY and I engaged the CC and it worked. I got off the exit and immediately got back on the HWY heading in the opposite direction. When I tried my CC, it didn't work and it hasn't worked since.

Not correct (along with some other wrongness in this thread).
There is a microswitch connected to the clutch pedal on all model years (go look at the PET). If cruise control is enabled and you tap the clutch pedal, the switch causes cruise control to disengage.
At some point in '96 (not quite sure it is 100% aligned to OBD2 cars) a second clutch pedal micro-switch is wired into the ignition start circuit. Starting the car depends on this switch also being depressed (clutch pedal down) to start the car. Some people bypass this switch and jumper the wires together so the newer cars do not need the clutch depressed to start it. They do this for a few reasons such as fear of being stranded by this "safety" feature and also some purported issues of extra stress introduced on the thrust bearing caused by needing to hold down the clutch pedal while starting the car.
Edit: edited for some clarity provided by Jay (below).

Hi Sam,
Above, Doug points to a known condition when the bulbs are replaced with LEDs. The Cruise Contol needs to see a resistive load on the stoplight circuit to function. Adding a resistor, bulb or the blast offered by Bergvill FX will resolve the CC not working caused by the absence of incandescent bulbs.

As I mentioned in my reply to Dough, I have the Bergvill FX LED kit (including the third brake light). I installed Bergvill's LED smart ballast (resister). My CC worked after the install. It stopped working because of some other reason.
