Does this have the electronic spoiler? How fast do you have to go before it comes up? I hate the way the steering looks like. It looks like the Cayenne Steering wheel to me....just my .02

The interior may look quite a bit better if it were black.

Still don't like the new look compared to the 964 & 993, however with the new round headlights and the flared rear fenders, Porsche AG seem to be heading in the right direction!

I wonder what they will call the widebody NA? I think it looks fabulous compared to the 996. The steering wheel is ugly, the chronograph is ugly, the speaker grilles look cheap with that honeycomb inside (and appear to be made where it would be tough to modify with aftermarket speakers), the shifter needs to be replaced (although I like the new boot much better than the 996 boot), and I don't know what they were thinking when they designed those taillights. Hmmm, maybe I can convince the father to buy a turbo or a GT3? He'd better sell that 996 before the 997 is released, or he is going to be selling his '01 with 20k on it for under $40k.

To me, that phone and huge center console with sat navigatin display (I'm sure you can watch DVD's also), phone buttons etc. says "pimp" out loud.

There's just nothing that say "sportscar" or "motorsport" in that interior, it's all plush, comfortable & bling. Even the five gauges don't look right in there.

Well, at least they got rid of the "melted" cluster of the Boxster/996, so it's a step in the right direction.

This thing has, what, twenty times more buttons than a 993?

What happened to the direct shift gearbox? Perhaps for a subsequent model year?

My reaction exactly. Exterior styling is better, but that ain't the kind of interior that says "911" to me.

When all is said and done however I think my bottom line this is still a car built to a very different set of build quality and design objectives than the pre-996 cars.

Don,

I'd gladly trade the TT for a NA 993 to regain the opportunity to drive the Texas hill country everyday, and root for the Longhorns at Memorial Stadium on weekends.

I get every piece of spam known to mankind. It's heartening to know that PCNA cares about me just as much as the international herbal Viagra sales force.
