Replacement shock absorber recommendations

Replacement shock absorber recommendations
My 993 Targa Tip just failed its MOT due to a leaking shock absorber.
I'm after recommendations for replacements - I'm guessing the OEM part (twice as expensive as aftermarket, and probably just badged) isn't necessary.
I'm not after anything complicated or adjustable, just reliable and affordable - would love some suggestions.
For example, is this is sensible replacement: https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt385...Koni-standard/

An inexpensive height-adjustable coil-over option I have great daily driver results with for the last several years is the H&R Street Performance Coil-Over kit 29954-1 on hrsprings.com, both springs and matched struts for all four wheel ends, cost a little less than $2000

Curious, why do you recommend non adjustable? Different animal but i love the adjustable on my 912. Since I just got the 993 would love to hear your take.

I have Koni FSD as well and very happy with them I also have ROW M033 springs. No desire to have adjustable. I primarily weekend drive it with occasional autocross

Check with Gert…

I just bought the Bilstein B6XT, and H&R sport spring combo for my 993. Gert has Koni’s also. Not only is Gert extremely knowledgeable, and gracious with his time…he’s also on your side of the pond.
Good luck

I went with the Koni Special Active shocks from Carnewal (same in your link) and paired them with the M029 springs (RoW standard I believe) and couldn't be happier. Very compliant ride with zero harshness it leans more towards comfortable than aggressive and I love it. I only drive it on the street in New England so the compliance is welcome.

I did my DIY suspension about 9 years ago.
At that time I also changed to MO33 springs.
The front struts are adjustable, the rears aren't.
I saw pics of several 993s with that ride height (which was good for me).
In addition since people were satisfied with the ride and the combo was considerably cheaper than PSS10 and KW3, I went with that combo.
If I were a track oriented driver, I would have opted for a performance coil -over set-up, but that's not my thing.
I believe the newer FSD has some electronic adjustments.
I like to keep more of a low tech car.
My wife has a new BMW 540i - I hate it. It's like a driving a computer with never ending pop-up messages.
BMW lost their way a long time ago. I miss BMWs of the past. It seems modern Porsches are on the same trajectory.

I just had the classic greens installed and they’re great. The ride is not harsh as was my experience with other bilsteins. Couldn’t be happier and worth every penny. It’s easy for some to say they’re just painted green but firsthand knowledge beats speculation.

Nope. Having spoken to Koni about their shock at a recent motor show, their rep confirmed that FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) is a non-adjustable shock, which has just been rebranded, with the colour change, as "Special-Active" because customers didn't understand "Frequency Selective Damping".
