Post Finished HID install !!

Well, I finished the install today (mostly). Big thanks to Chris for answering e-mail's today. Only real issue I was not sure of was running the connector/wires through the rubber grommet inside the truck. Needed to cut a small hole in the rubber to get the connectors through. There are some tricky parts, but the DIY outlines them very well. Once I did one side it only took 30 minutes to do the other side.

When I say "mostly", I still would like to work on the ignitor locations/mounting some more and I need to finish the ballast screws (only put in one screw on each for now).

As far as the the overall affect, it is really quite a thing of beauty to see. Literally like night and day compared to the stock lights! They come on very fast as well. Given some of the comments about taking a momment to light up it is not an issue at all.

Good luck to those that are DIY'ing this one!

Well, I completed the installation of Catz HID kit this afternoon. I took about three hours, but I took my time and tried to make it very clean, OEM-like install. I considered cutting into the original headlight harness utilizing the two ‘freed-up’ pins on the headlight to harness connector, but decided against it. Mainly if I wanted to reverse this installation at some point and revert back to the original halogen light, restoring the original harness would be a real PITA. The Catz kit is very well put together and I wanted to keep it in its original state, for most part <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

One area that I somewhat deviated from original Catz DIY was mounting of the HID ballasts to the fender wall. I went for using ‘Dual-Lock’ material from Radio Shack to attach the ballasts to inside of the fender walls. In order to better fit the ballast and get them to lay flat against the mounting tape, I ended up cutting all three screw mounting ears off the ballasts case. Dremel cut-off disk and sanding wheel make it a quick 10-minute job. Have a look . . .

Very nice installation, I can't wait until my kit arrives. I'm still interested in pursuing the idea of using the stock connectors. I've read posts here about trying it, but it would be great if someone posted that they were successful, pictures would be great too.

Has anyone installed the Turbo S brake duct/fog light kits you see out there?
I'm curious what the quality is of the fog light that comes with those kits? I'm tracking my Catz HID's now (should be here 4/8) but wanted to look at other options for the stock fog lights.
Thanks,
R

I replaced the positioning lights on my S ducts with PIAAs...at least they are usable now.
