Birdie stuck in my vents....

Has anyone gone after and fixed an intermittent bird chirp in the vent fan while in cool mode, no A/C.
It is not that loud, but bothersome...
Anyone who has had this one will know, I hope...
I am hoping to not buy a whole fan unit where some oil / clearancing something / etc. might do the trick.
Thanks in advance !

Jim,
Mine sounds like a cricket. I attribute mine to the vent fan. It only makes the noise on low speed and only sometimes. Of course it only started after my mechanic replaced the evaporator part of my ac system (a royal PITA). I actually think the fan (looks like a gerbil treadmill) is loose or mis-aligned and hits the housing sometimes. That is all I can think of. When I think about the time it took him to replace the part before, I am not going to fix it. A small annoyance to put up with until I rip the system out for race purposes.
Good luck.

I had a similar problem and took it in the dealer. They found a lose connection with one of the vent hoses underneath the dash, they explained that the AC computer senses a vacuum leak and shuts down the unit. Hope this help.

I had a squeaky fan in another car. The grease on the bearings eventually dried out. It made a cricket like sound, like E.J. mentions. I was able to take the fan out of the car, take it apart, and lube the bearings. It was easy on my old car, but the fan on a 993 is pretty buried. Good luck!

Same problem but sometimes and when the A/C is on , coming from the far passanger side vent. Switch it off completely and on again then its okay for a few minutes and then its back again. Had it since I bought the car.

Thanks all.
I kind of guessed that the fan is the issue. I had heard it is buried and a pain. I guess I will let it chirp.
