Can anyone suggest a set of lightwieght wheels with a nice dish in a widebody offset?
Fikse FM10's and BBS LM are nice but I think I prefer a little more dish...
Any chance they'll release the '02 five spokes in a widebody offset?
TIA

T-L, sorry, this maybe a dumb question but what do you mean by 'dish'??
If you like the 5-spoke '02s, why not use a spacer..? I intend to go the spacer route when my bank account recovers a bit more... :-)

Did you have a chance to see the latest issue of Excellence. One of the advertisements was for a wheel with a 5" lip (some type of proprietary technology). I can't imagine what type of offset would be needed or how they do it but it may be worth further investigation. I don't remember the wheel manufacturer offhand, but will check it out tonight and post. Not sure of the quality of the wheel but it sure looked good.

Old Guy, I saw a set of the Avus wheels (5-spoke 'max-lip) at F1 Motorsports in No. Hollywood. IIRC they were somewhat inexpensive...maybe about $1500 a set? Which makes me wonder:is it really a 2-piece wheel??, heavy?? forged??

They look sweet but the number one concern is light weight. ANyone know what they weigh?
After trimming a few pounds (remove engine tray, RSR's and some soundproof removal) I'm amazed at the difference in the feel of the car. Lightweight flywheel and new seats are also on the agenda but I really want to reduce the rotating mass of the wheels for overall performance improvement.
I believe that not only will acceleration improve slightly with lighter wheels but the suspension's ability to deal with road irregularities should also improve. Better ride AND better handling...
The dish is obviously purely for looks... I had an old 535i in the early 90's with some serious lip on the wheels and it looked badass.

Tech-Law,
Light wheels and light tires are a great idea, but a pound or two probably isn't too significant with a heavy street tire. If you're using really lightweight tires at the track, then I'd worry about a pound of unsprung weight. Those wheels look great, and if they're anything near $1500 a set and not horribly heavy, they would be on my list for investigation.
