Default 2022 fair price for Genuine Sport Hardback Seats?

A friend of a friend has a pair of genuine 993 hardbacks that are in pretty good shape, I would say an 8.5 out of 10. Anyone have an idea of what fair pricing is for a set at this point in 2022? I seem to recall them going for between $6k and $8k a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the quick reply. Damn, not good enough! I just heard back and he's apparently looking to get 11k. I absolutely love the seats as they fit my 6'3" 220 lb body much better than my standard seats. I am just not sure if it makes sense as there are a lot of other things I could purchase with that much cash! My other option is to spend 3K or less and get some 997 GT3 seats with the alcantara inserts. I've heard those are a good fit for a big guy in a 993 also. Of course, maybe I should just grab the 993 hardbacks, especially if they are just going to keep going up in price. Worst case scenario, I don't love them and I sell them.

In my opinion not worth it. Save the money for something else.

Wow, I had no idea OEM HB's had reached the $10K+ level. Better than the stock market.

What colour are you looking for a 2 or 3 sets here, but I am uk based so not sure what the impacts on shipping and import your side would be on the over all value, here there selling around £4-6k sterling depending on condition

Prefer black if available, but gray is also an option. If you PM details and pictures, I would be very interested. Looking at these seats in 1 hours, but price is honestly too high IMO.

Too much in my opinion. What about Recaro Pole Positions? Those are the ultimate seat in my opinion.

Default OE Hardback Racing Seats $ ... That's nuts ....

IIRC .... In May of 1997, the Carrera 993 Racing Seat w/heat option (372/373) costs about $350.00 each. Today's ask $ is nuts.

I’d never put 997 seats in a 993 - but that’s just me.

Consider that OEM hardbacks are very difficult to find. Most folks who want them could never find a set even if they were willing to spend $12K or more.

They will always to be easy to sell down the road and there is low risk they won’t hold their value.

If you are going to pass on them please PM me your buddies contact info. I’ll buy them (I'm in NJ). What color are they?

Are these Waldemar's version on eBay? No affiliation with seller.

I am not sure if these are OEM or Waldemar, but I saw these last week when they were listed and if you look at the detail pictures the bases look to have some corrosion.

price on hardbacks depends a lot depends on condition. I paid a good amount more ($15k) for a nearly perfect black set with heat and crests a year or so ago.. I am always looking and it isn’t easy to find them in great condition.

Too funny, these are the ones I looked at as I am local in NJ. The corrosion was minor and just surface. Could easily have been resprayed. The backs were not repros, definitely OEM with a few small blemishes. The oddest thing was the leather did not look OEM to me at all. They were in beautiful shape, but leather had more of a matte finish a d the bottom of the bolsters appeared a little mishapen. The seller was pretty certain leather was OEM and I am no expert. Anyway, I just couldn't see dropping $11k as there are so many other upgrades I am planning, both interior and mechanical. However, I did need new seats so went a different direction. Fortunately, a local to me shop had my second choice seats which I am very glad to have gone with, (Pole Position Classics in black leather with pepita inserts). The best thing is, these and my RS style leather door cards will still be about half the price of what I would have spent on those hardbacks. In any event, if you are looking for hardbacks, you could do a lot worse than the seats on eBay if the price is worth the admission for you.

Also, that seller is affiliated with Top Gear, the NJ car dealer, and had a pile of 964 and 993 parts that the salesperson told me they are going to be listing on ebay. There were a beautiful pair of hardback recaro style seats which I think they also listed on eBay for something like 25k. (See: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165489781252?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=-NsH_egmSfm&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=WPwQdXCVRmq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media =SMS)

Those looked 100% OEM with painted hardback shells and leather that looked period correct.
