Smile Quick question

This might be the dumbest question ever asked here but I'm going to do it anyways. I knocked my rearview mirror off the other day. What kind of adhesive is used to attach it to the window? I've tried a few different glues and none have worked. Thanks in advance and pardon my ignorance.

Have you tried going to an auto parts store and getting mirror glue or are you using something not designed for mirrors?

Far from the dumbest question ...
Go to most any auto parts store, buy rearview mirror glue & follow the directions. Be sure to clean the area well & use a razor blade to remove any debris from the old glue.

Edit: Mark - you're faster, but I typed more

Incidentally, cyanoacrylate [sic] works well. I believe it's marketed as "Crazy Glue" on stores. I've used it a couple of times on glass/metal before.

Thanks,
Peter

I've used Locktite 747 before and it worked well.
Make absolutely certain that the area is very clean, degreased and free of any old adheasive traces. With any adheasive, make sure that it's very well set before attempting to put the mirror back on, as the force is tremendous (I just put a new mirror on my new windshield yesterday - it was a pain).

Dan,

Is that how it works in the courtroom, too?

A tip:
Be sure to take a felt pen or a piece of tape and mark the location of the mirror base on the outside of the windshield It is surprisingly difficult to get reoriented after you remove evidence of the mirror's original location.

Thank you all for your help and advise. I'll be reattaching it tomorrow.

Luke- I wish I could blame it on the heat but no, just my own carelessness.

Thanks again all
