Check strap play

Check strap play
My check strap makes little noise (ignore the door squeak) but does have some play. Shown here:

There’s some evidence of work in here - touch up paint above the pin and some dents on the strap - perhaps the pin was replaced at some point? The noise in the video is much worse than in person. FWIW, the passenger side is solid (no play) and silent.
So, how bad is this!?

Hi Pappa,
A known 911 body issue going back to 1970.
Here is a page discussing it:

Your example looks to not need the expensive body shop fix, just do the strap modification discussed on the above page and see if it resolves your issue.

Pappa,
No movement is normal, and with the strap modified it shouldn't move to any great extent going forward. The forces from the strap design cause the welds in the A-pillar to fatigue. If the mount in the A-pillar has not broken loose yet modifying the strap is the usual solution. I can't speak to if an A-pillar weld repair has been done previously on your car but modifying the strap will probably avoid a complete detachment necessitating a body shop repair.
Don't overthink it, adjust the strap and be done with it.

sorry to say that is the beginning of the end. You'll want to get that fixed properly before the spot welds fully give up the ghost. Mine was the exact same position, aka no longer centered. Which is a cheaper fix compared to when it pulls through the a pillar.

Any shop in South FL to do it?
Any good recommendation of a shop in the greater Miami/F. Lauderdale area that had done this door strap repair at the A pillar?
I've just purchased a new to me 993 and the driver's door strap has this issue.
TIA
