@IainM looking at your photos I still can't figure out what I'm looking at. My right side has oil around and beneath it. Time for RS mounts?

Wow. Bobby, that's one of the worst motor mounts I've ever seen.

Next step is motor on the ground.

There should be no more than 1/4" gap here. Yours looks like a full inch or close to it.

LOL boomboomthump !
That's what I was thinking.
I've owned the car for about 5 years and only brought it to some highly recommended shops - I guess they suck. They also never noticed a glaring but probably easily fixable issue on another part of the car.
Not many people have your skills but I'm going to try to start doing more than oil changes myself.

Easy way to tell if they're shot is if your exhaust tips have sunk down a bit or if there is oily looking fluid on the cat accompanied by a horrible smell. I'm surprised those haven't popped yet.

Porsche used the same metal 'outer' casting of the mount for three different inner materials/hardness/something, as seen by the three sets of part numbers.

From the parts shelves, the fitters knew which was which by a coloured sticker which was applied to the casing on assembly. You can see the remnants of the (circular) sticker on the photos, but the colour has faded over time.

Just to follow up, I replaced my stock motor mounts with RS over the past two days. I had one issue but question was answered on the forum pretty quickly. https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...-question.html

Pic of the old motor mounts, left is passenger side, right is driver side, looks like the passenger side mount must have leaked heavily - certainly needed a lot of cleanup on that side.

Curious to know what your thoughts are on the RS mounts. How's the NVH?

same here as well on NVH with RS mounts vs orig mounts? Appreciable difference between the 2 mounts or negligible?

I'm interested too. Changed the oil yesterday, will change the belts today and hope to go on a first drive later.

First I had to Google NVH. Ok, got it! . I have RS engine and tranny mounts for the past 15yrs, and to me, zero issue or noise. A no brainer, imho.

I have RS mounts and there is a little more vibration from the engine at idle, but really not that bad. The RS mounts make the entire car feel tighter too. Really secures the engine as a unit in the back.

Added OEM RS mounts this week, as well as a FDM SSK and Golden Rod. Can’t believe how bad it had gotten. It’s night and day better.
