I'm working on a friend's C4S and have hit a snag.
If you purchased a new engine fan (964.106.015.31) but have yet to install it, I would like to buy it ASAP. For whatever reason, there are non to be had, anywhere. This after a few dozen phone calls to Porsche dealers, etc.
Please let me know if you have one of these rascals.

I just ordered one today to keep handy (read to avoid the Porsche part annual increase, that's kind of like sale right?) , but was told on back order as well. I don't think the TT and the NA fans are the same, but the common thread is that they aren't around for either cars.

HaHa!
Thank you. Correct, 993 & 993 turbo fans are not interchangeable.

It was an interesting experience…my “go-to” source(Porsche dealer with large on-line presence) said that Porsche had initiated a part recall, and placed an order block also. Any order window not expected until the end of December.
No other like Porsche dealer stated the same…fan was available in Germany, and timeframe varied form 10 days to 3 weeks to acquire. I was given the location of 4 fans existing in dealer stock.
Dealer with theoretically 2 in stock(literally an hour away from AOW) couldn’t find them.
Next dealer with one in stock…same, couldn’t physically locate it.
Last dealer was too busy to confirm they had it in stock, computer said it was there.
Funny thing is…most dealers advertise and quoted prices in the range of $450-$690 for the part. They showed the retail price near that $690 number.
Another well known and respected Indy shop, checked availability…and was told there were 5 available, in Porsche’s warehouses in the US. Those were available thru “Porsche Classic”, same part number, but with a retail price of $1100.
The fact that so many Porsche dealers, most with large “on-line” wholesale part businesses …I literally talked to probably 6 anyway, had vastly different answers to availability. Theoretically they should all be looking at the same order screen…right?
So, what was learned thru this experience you ask?
Well, Porsche initiates a recall for QC issues on a part, then makes that part available again thru the “Porsche Classic” window…at nearly three times the price.
I paid $447 for that in stock fan…the COST for that aforementioned well respected Indy for the exact same part…$880.
What part of “Porsche Classic” did you think was gonna be cheap…the Porsche part, or the Classic part?
On to the next dumpster fire in a train wreck, caused by a tsunami…

Total insanity, Joe! I’m glad you were able to source a fan on the “cheap” end of that spectrum to get AOW back on track.
